Martha, the youngest daughter of fanatically religious parents, is all too aware that her family is unusual. Taunted and bullied at school, and lonely at home, with only postcards from her elder sister to keep her sane, Martha knows there has to be some other way of living. But it is only when she is befriended by the new boy, Scott, that she decides to reveal the terrible secret that has so far kept her in emotional chains.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I read in school as a class-reader and liked it so much I decided to buy it on my kindle as well. This is a fantastic story that is incredibly gripping and makes you feel a mixture of emotions: happy, sad, scared and joyful. This book is so addictive that I read it all in one night. It is about twelve year old girl called Martha who belongs to the righteous community. Her life is different to normal people's in a number of ways, but then she meets Scott, the exact opposite of herself. But Martha has a secret she can't tell anyone... and you'll have to read this book to find out what it is.... 😁😇😊😨😬😧😴😢😷😵😈

i read this on a kindle and it was very interesting . I love how the author makes it so they have two characters point of view. I would recommend this book to anyone aged 11+ and likes mystery / adventure

I am only a low teen but I really enjoyed this book it has you on the end of you seat and has a good ending. I would rate this book 5/5 because it is very good and hooks the reader in, once you have started to read you won't want to stop reading until you have finished because it is so gripping. I think the age group for this book is 8+ because it isn't that hard to understand what is going on and people might say it is a bit sad and scary but it has a happy ending, there are not any hard words to understand. Over all I think this book is very good and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a gripping, heart felt story.

A hit with my teenage reluctant reader!

I struggle to get my teenage son to read anything at all (although I keep trying!). He's recently discovered this author and now read four books back to back! It helps that the stories are quite short as I think he finds it less daunting to tackle a thiner book. He tells me that because the books are shorter you get into the story more quickly.. Either way, I'm very happy that he's reading!

Easy reading, full of mystery and suspense. My 11 year old daughter and I enjoyed reading it together and we liked the way the chapters are very short and are told from either Scott or Martha’s viewpoint. Strongly recommended!
