This set includes all 65 episodes of "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", a very absurdly entertaining cartoon. It is worth noting that this set does not include the "Christmas Blast" special from 1996. Some consider that episode a part of this series, but it is more of its own thing.

The set is packaged in a standard sized, clear DVD case with plastic inserts. On the reverse side of the cover art is the episode guide which you can see from the inside of the case. You have to remove a disc from each side to view this guide.

The menus are pretty basic, but get the job done. You can turn on English subtitles in the episode selection menu. Speaking of which, the episode selection menu features artwork of Eggman and Sonic from different eras of the video game franchise which looks pretty unprofessional. (Sonic is his "Classic", Japanese styled artwork and the Eggman is "Adventure" era artwork.)

Overall, this set is bare bones, but definitely worth the price for every episode of this series. I would recommend it. The set's standard price is around 40 dollars, which is about 62 cents an episode which a great deal.

I grew up watching this show, it is VERY comical and entertaining. I have them all on DVD but this collection is one set with all the episodes on Blu-ray. Don't expect the quality to be on par with other Blu-ray shows since the format is pulled from the old shows but it is still worth buying for the audio improvement. I also like how they designed the box art modeled after the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 genesis game. This is another show great for children because they have a segment at the end of each episode called "Sonic Says" which teaches children all sorts of safety rules I know I was taught growing up like not getting into a vehicle with strangers, when to call 911, not opening your door at home for strangers, what to do if you get poison ivy, always brush your teeth and go to the dentist and many more. Whether you are a Sonic fan or want something good for your kids to watch you will NOT be disappointed! Now all we need is Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, and Captain N: The Game Master Blu-ray cartoon collection! I also grew up watching all these cartoons as a kid.

Light-Hearted 1993 Fun with Sonic & Tails

Airing for one season in first-run syndication, "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" was greeted by viewers with mixed reactions. But years of syndicated re-runs (including a brief stint on on the infamous UPN network) has helped the series gain some of the respect it deserves. (It even occasionally appears on some Independent stations to this day). Although produced on a tight budget and rushed into production, "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" is made worthwhile by it's light humor, which is often so "corny" that it's very funny. The animation style, while panned at the time, holds up well and is refreshing in these days of "computer generated" animation.

This DVD may seem a little unnecessary with two larger "volume sets" on sale, it still has it's merits. For those who like the series, but want to "try before buying", this DVD is an economical choice.

The four episodes are entertaining, and the series is most certainly recommend to fans of early 1990's animation, syndicated animation, "strip programming" (a term for shows that air five times a week during their original run), the "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game series, as well as those who just plain like the 1990's. Being a fan of all the above, this has become one of my favourites, and I look forward to buying the "larger volume sets" at a later date.
