Back in the long ago nineties, Rachel Walsh was a mess.
But a spell in rehab transformed everything. Life became very good, very quickly. These days, Rachel has love, family, a great job as an addiction counsellor, she even gardens. Her only bad habit is a fondness for expensive trainers.
But with the sudden reappearance of a man she'd once loved, her life wobbles.
She'd thought she was settled. Fixed forever. Is she about to discover that no matter what our age, everything can change?
Is it time to think again, Rachel?

Following Rachel's "journey" (shovel list) through the years, finding out how relationships had changed and why was so satisfying.
My first introduction to Marian Keyes and the Walsh sisters was through Rachel's holiday many years ago. I've loved getting to know each sister through the books. It was so nice to catch up with the family again.
As always Marian delves into really deep and dark topics, but doesn't write depressing books. I don't know how time and time again she writes about terrible things, but manages to create beautiful, light hearted fun reads, that instantly become favourites.
If you liked “Holidays” you will love this one!

Age 16 I read Rachel’s Holiday and I feel in love with all things Keyes. 20 years on that love is still as strong. While there are parts of the book that are bit fanatical, the expensive dresses etc, and far fetched that is allowed cause although reading about the Walshes is like catching with old friends it is fact a work of fiction so a little bit of fantasy is okay especially when it involves Tom Ford dresses. Rachel was always the favourite of the Walsh girls for me, both her and Luke jump of the page I can see them as actual people the are both flawed, lovely, funny and true to life. As usual Marian brings humour into the dark, the writing as always is touching and moving when it needs to be but hilarious in between. If you loved Rachel first time round you love her even more this time. I have read all of the Keyes books over the years and loved them all ( the break, the women who stole my life and the brightest star in the sky are the only ones I didn’t reread or properly love, but still liked them) but the Walsh sisters books have always been extra special so I was glad to met them again. This book was 20 years in the waiting for me and it didn’t disappoint. My reading tastes have changed over the last 20years I no longer really enjoy “chick lit” but as I have always said there is “chick lit” then there is Marian Keyes. I be reading Again, Rachel again, again and again….
Footnote- sign of a good book for me is when I have to purchase the audiobook as I can’t put the book down and I need to try and get on with things… this was defo the case here finished in two days… when I wasn’t on the couch reading I had my beats on listening… bonus is Marian reads the audiobook which she does fabulously

I regret that I purchased this book at the full price – I wasn’t really all that keen on the idea of revisiting Rachel’s story as I knew she could never match up to the first book and though I found it compelling that was mainly because I wanted to know how it all turned out I can’t say I enjoyed the journey all that much. I really only cared about the characters such as the Walsh family and Luke who were introduced in earlier books – the new characters such as Quinn seem quite thin, more stereotypes than real people and while I enjoyed the rehab stories the truth is that at it’s best this book is just a rehash to ‘Rachel’s Holiday’ at its worst it’s just a dreary account of people with more money than sense eating at pretentious restaurants and going on pretentious holidays (I skipped the gardening bits all together). The writing also is weaker than in most of her previous books and I found myself beginning to skip chunks to get to the interesting bits. I feel that Keynes is probably too rich now to have much empathy with her readers – Joanna Trollope has gone the same way. On balance I wish I’d just re-read the first book.

I won’t give too much away, because it’s best you uncover the changes in Rachel’s life for yourselves, but let’s just say that the student has become the teacher, with Rachel now a top addiction counsellor. There have also been some romantic changes, the introduction of a dog named Crunchie, but most importantly the whole Walsh clan are still around and as wonderful as ever! Read it yourself to see how much has changed in almost thirty years…
I listened to a lot of this on audiobook, which is narrated by Marian herself, and there’s something about her voice which is just like the biggest hug - and my god how I laughed! Once again, she has managed to take devastating topics like addiction and child loss, and yet written with such lightness, compassion and humour that you still think of this as a heartwarming novel. That’s the Marian magic 😉
What I really loved was that even though Rachel isn’t in rehab herself, we still got to hear all these eye opening and moving stories of addiction through a new group of characters, so it still rang very true to Rachel’s Holiday in that sense.
And then there’s just the romance, and the endless laughs. My god how I laughed! People in the park must’ve thought I was an absolute loon laughing so loudly whilst walking the dogs - but it’s just so witty and hilarious that you can’t help yourself! And after that glorious ending, I was walking around with the biggest smile on my face - just the perfect note to end on. Cannot recommend this enough!

I had read and loved Rachel's Holiday several times, so was excited to read Again, Rachel. I was not disappointed - I absolutely loved this and found it so difficult to put down. What a fantastic sequel, it was certainly a case of 'just one more chapter...'.
I loved catching up with Rachel and her lovely family and, of course, Luke Costello. Marian's characters are always so well developed, warm, funny and women who I would like to call my friends. Well paced, I loved the characters we met in The Cloisters.
I really hope Marian will now write sequels for the other books and characters of the Walsh family ...please Marian.
Highly recommended, I can't praise this book high enough. The best sequel I have read for a very long time. Fabliss!!!
