Okay, so this is not a highbrow Western. It's a tongue in cheek version of the Jesse James story, aimed at a young audience. With a very young and rather nice looking Colin Farrell in the lead. He doesn't even have a thick Irish accent. Surprisingly, Timothy Dalton sounds (and with the beard almost looks) like Gerry Adams rather than the Scot his character is. Still, it's nice to see him again, and he goes along with the rather light hearted approach to the story . Kathy Bates is absolutely wonderful. She has the best line in the entire film, and does she deliver it! Sadly her role is little more than a cameo.
Sit back and enjoy it, have a laugh when you see those youngsters up on their horses and twirling their guns. Once you watch the bonus material, you'll appreciate how much work went into this Western starring up and coming 21st century actors. Not many of these kids grew up with horses and smoking guns...
And before you complain that there is no title menu and no bonus material on your DVD - watch the film, and you'll find what you were looking for after the end credits.

If your after a fun western rather than a gritty western then this is for you, it may not be factually correct but who cares, its a rip roaring action packed western with humour, its fun with a capital F. I enjoyed it.
