Very YA. The series would be better if the main character was several years older and wasn't being led around by makes constantly. I don't like Ruckus - I think he's boring and manipulative in a sneaky way. Tristan owns his personality, but Ruckus pretends to be good IMO while taking advantage of her in a very emotional situation. Need all over her constantly, barely giving her room to breathe. He gets in her space then go to back to distant then again to physical. Instead of helping her, he helps himself. Her blind trust in him is disturbing, considering he technically kidnapped her and will blindly follow his leader's orders over ensuring her safety. That would make sense if he wasn't in love with her (I'm not sure he is), but Delaney's attachment seems out of proportion. They don't know each other; they should not be living together at the end of the book. Two weeks doesn't make a relationship, especially when she's basically coerced into it as a result of needing to survive. Her making any relationship decisions in those two weeks is a crock.

The sci-fi aspects are pretty light with lots of similarities to earth customs or objects. It feels like there wasn't much world building effort. Everything wraps up fairly fast while seeking to drag on. Her relationships with a couple other aliens magically progress over a game of cards, and suddenly she's gonna miss them. Delaney is also appear a good shot with the Fritz and has good self defense skills after a handful of classes she barely paid attention to a couple years ago. As a martial artist, that last item is complete BS. A couple of classes won't give you the skills to fight off an attqcker , much less three, unless you practice them consistently.

Basically what you get is an 18 year old young woman who lacks a backstory, notable skills other than a smart mouth, who thinks she's independent while letting the men make all the decisions for her. On top of it, she falls for her vapid abductor like a bimbo.

I'm a fan of this author's Underworld series, so I was super excited to read this one. I really liked Delaney. She had moxie, and I appreciated her sass. Olena though. I'd start to feel sorry for the girl, but she was just so awful all empathy vanished. I'm conflicted about Trystan. Sometimes I can sort of see where he was coming from, and then he would jump right back to full psychopath. And that preview for the next book... it is going down.
