5.0 out of 5 starsA chillax and enjoyable game - no regrets - just destress!
Reviewed in Australia on 27 March 2020
If you enjoy playing something that's relaxing and at a pace. This is the game for you.

Very relaxing and enjoyable to just be on an island and chill and do some stuff. As well as you can have other players come to your island via online and what not.

Limitless hours of fun haaha.

My only critique is that my game was delivered with no plastic covering and it seemed somewhat slightly damaged, so it does make me wonder about the product I've received. However, so far into a few days, nothing's gone wrong. So it's all good! :)

1.0 out of 5 starsDisgusting and deceptive.
Reviewed in Australia on 28 April 2020
The game has an island limit per console. Which means theres no way you can share the experience with friends or family unless they own thier own copy of the game and console.

The biggest problem i have with this limit though is what do i do when i've gathered everything? I cant start a new game and do things differently or explore different creative ideas. Because if i do that I destroy all my progress simply to do something different!

The game also doesnt do anything trumendously new to previous versions either. We dont see new biomes or greater interactivity with the items.

After only 2 days of playing this game I am disappointed and disgusted. Dont buy into the hype that is sweeping across social media.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sucks if you're sharing your switch.

The game itself is fine. The problem is, you can't play it separately if another person is using your switch. I got the switch and game for myself. But I have a small brother and he wanted to play as well. But the game put him on my island as a new resident instead of giving him his own island. This just ruins it for the both of us. He can't experience being the resident representative or starting fresh on his new island. And I have to share my space and resources with him. That's just so stupid. It says that to move to a new island we have to have a new switch AND a new game. I have to pay 460 dollars MORE just so he can have an island? This is not a cheap game. This feature just sucks. I don't want to share my own island, which is the whole purpose, in a game that I paid a lot of money for but I'm not gonna not let my little brother play as well. Hated it.

1.0 out of 5 stars It looks nice...

This game is tedious, mundane, incredibly slow, and unbearably boring. It exploits human psychology to create an unhealthy addiction in a similar fashion to certain mobile games. There are thousands of items in the game but you can't interact with any of them, and the game is full of poor design choices and restrictions that prevent you from playing at your own pace. You'll be doing the same thing over and over again. However, if yoy enjoy wasting your time doing pointless things, this is the game for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be prepared to read... ALOT!

Cute game. There is ALOT of reading and re-reading so be prepared for that. If you have young children they will definitely require someone to read for them. I would say this game is aimed at 10+ yo not younger due to all the reading and basic understanding of how community living works. The characters are easy enough to play and interact with but it does take continual day to day play to really get into it. After a week we were bored. I think if you connect to the Internet and invite strangers to play then it might be more fun, however with my kids I won't let them play in other communities. Cool game but only 3 stars from us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of a mobile game

Personally it was overhyped and felt like a daily chore simulator. You pick fruit, break stone, catch fish/butterflies and that repeat the next day. I usually like slow relaxed games like this but I lost my patience for this game. I played for about a month with friends and just couldn't enjoy it. Yes you can build and design your house_island but even that was boring.
Overall, if you've never played the first one or just wanted to buy it for the hype, I wouldn't recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars basically farmville

This is seriously a AAA Nintendo title? It's such an incredibly small world, with so little to do. It has the depth and complexity I'd expect for a cute little indie game. If this had been like $10 I would have been happy with it, but I'm annoyed I wasted $70 on this (frankly dull and pointless) little game. I can't believe this title is in the same leagues as huge masterpieces like Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey.

3.0 out of 5 stars The start is good. but then...

Huge animal crossing fan. Honestly I'd recommend getting New Leaf instead of New Horizons. New Horizons is pretty good at the beginning, but after a few weeks it can get repetitive/boring. Maybe wait a few months until they've added more features to the game because I find myself loving it in the beginning but getting bored after about a month.

1.0 out of 5 stars local co-op terrible

I’m so disappointed that there is no split screen local co-op. My eight year old refuses to play using the follow the leader co-op system Because it’s not fun. We all want to explore the island at the same time.

There’s too much of narration in the game, actual play looks less, compared to the talk.

Not satisfied with the purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's pretty meh, as with most switch games

Honestly, this was not made for gamers. There's little to no story line, too much useless dialogue, takes too long to do online play with friends.
Has some nice customisation features and events every now and then but honestly not worth the money. Gets old fast.
