I would class this author and books "fantasy". So many bullets. I can't imagine how its possible for each "baddie" to be able to carry so many bullets. I suppose that even in the western books, the cowboys fired more than six bullets from their gun that only carried 6 bullets. Too much for me. I didnt finish this book and would never read another Matthew Reilly book again.

I thought Tom Clancy, Dale Brown and their heroes had a charmed life but Matt Reilly's hero "The Scarecrow" is equally able to defeat the nasties at minimum loss of life to the goodies. And in doing so save the World from destruction. This is now the third Scarecrow Novel I've read and I have to admit I like the way Matt Reilly writes.

The second instalment in the Scarecrow series. I read this pretty much straight after Ice station, and much like in my last review of ice station this is a book I enjoyed when I was 18. It’s teen fiction at its best. Faced paced, easy reading, big explosions and gun battles, impossible situations and a hero main character.
It isn’t great writing, but it’s a good fun story for the light hearted reader, or younger reader.
I enjoyed it enough to continue on with the series.

You hear a lot of criticisms about Matthew Reilly, some saying he's cartoony and over OTT, but if you want to READ a blockbuster movie opposed to watching one then Area 7 satisfies hugely. It's so fast-paced, just like the missiles flying around in the book, and I just can't put it down. The characters are great and they're so many twists in the gargantuan plot that it's unbelievable. I had a ball reading this. Great entertainment with plenty of cliffhangers to chew on.
