I grew up being a voracious reader and it was a natural step to turn my interest to writing. I have published 28 award-winning and bestselling novels including my latest release, THE CHRISTMAS SPIRITS ON TRADD STREET, published by Penguin Random House in October, 2019. This is the 6th book in the Tradd Street series, to be followed by the final book, THE ATTIC ON QUEEN STREET, scheduled for publication on November 2, 2021. My next book, THE LAST NIGHT IN LONDON, will be published on April 20, 2021.

I write what others have termed "grit-lit"--southern women's fiction, as well as a contemporary paranormal mystery series (The House on Tradd Street is the 1st book in the series) set in Charleston, South Carolina.

I have also written three collaborations with bestselling authors Lauren Willig and Beatriz Williams. The most recent, ALL THE WAYS WE SAID GOODBYE, was published my William Morrow in January, 2012. We are hard at work on book #4, scheduled for publication in September, 2022.

I have two grown children (one of whom appears in several of my books under the alias of Meghan Black), and live near Atlanta, Georgia with my husband and two of the cutest Havanese dogs, Quincy and Sophie Belle. Readers may recognize Quincy as General Lee in the Tradd Street series.

Am I mistaken or glaring error?!

Did Karen White even write this book? It doesn't read or feel like her writing. There is a glaring error...or am I mistaken? On page 92 while Melanie's Mother is under a trance like state she growls..."YOU. WILL. BE. SORRY." On page 101 Melanie gets a text from an 843 area code that says "SHE DESERVED IT". On page 120, Melanie tells Jack "I received an odd text yesterday. From an 843 area code, so it's local-but not a number I recognized." She proceeds to tell him it was all caps and it said "You will be sorry". Um....no, your Mom said that, the text said She deserved it. Do editors even bother to read this stuff? Once I find such a glaring mistake it is hard to focus on the rest of the book. Overall, this book is a great disappointment and just doesn't do the series justice. I don't recommend buying it and if you feel you must read it, check it out from a library and save your money.

Skip this book if you are a fan of the Tradd Street Series……I believe the book was ghost written (literally, by a benevolent spirit) who took over Karen White’s body & had fun turning this book into a farcical romance book: focusing on: will Melanie & Jack get back together…of course you know they will…...Everything is predictable & as the reader you are always steps ahead of Melanie who doesn’t bother checking out all the obvious clues…the clues even have extra clues pointing to an object: that are never followed up….the clues have to keep showing up : as if to say: “wake up: what else do we need to do to get you to solve this….???!!!!” If a pillow continually shows up & you know the owner had seamstress skills: wouldn’t you look inside the darn pillow?? This ghost writer brought Melanie Down!!!!!! Tons of errors & Sappy sappy sappy a Big Dull Dud!!!!!

This review is bittersweet for me. The Tradd Street series books are one of my ultimate favorite series by an author. I devoured this The Attic on Queen Street but wanted to savor it at the same time since it is the 7th and final book in the series. Karen White definitely broke my heart with this one. She drug it through the ink and stamped it into the pages. Melanie and Jack's relationship feels like my relationship at this point. I've read them so much that it hurt me that they were at odds in this book, yet, still somehow had that aching love feeling. Karen White really knows how to use words as beautiful weapons.

Karen White never disappoints me with her mystery, intrigue, angst, paranormal aspects, and all around good feel to her books. I've grown out of the paranormal romances once Twilight became the thing of my past but the Tradd Street series books never feel like a paranormal romance to me. It just a women's fiction romance book to me.

I think Karen White did the ending fabulous and gave the readers what they wanted in the end of the series. I know I was happy at the end even though I was sad to be finishing the whole series. Of course, she definitely wet my appetite for Nola's spin-off books as well. You better believe that they are already pre-ordered!

Too much romance

The Tradd Street series has always had some romance in it, but this one overflowed with it. The story was so predictable I had the bad guy figured out early on. The author practically gave it away...the tall man. I liked most of the series except for the second one which did exactly what she did here. Too much like a romance novel. Pretty sappy at times. Kind of a let down for the final book in the series.
