4.0 out of 5 starsReally Great

I absolutely love Asher and Briar!
This is a really great start to this group of characters and I can't wait for more.
I loved their relationship, the push and pull and aaaaallllll the angst.

The *only* thing I really wished was that Briar was a smidge older. Like in the very beginning she is 14 and Asher is 17. I get that nothing *major* happened, and I feel like the relationship is very believable at this age (Based on my own recollection of teens at that age), but I would have felt slightly less icky if Briar had been even 15.
Throughout the book I just kept wondering why she was 17 and not 18. I think it would have been absolutely perfect if Briar had *just* been that one year older.

3.0 out of 5 starsDecent read

This was more like a 3.5 star read. I loved that the heroine wasn’t waiting around for the hero, and actually tried to move on with her life, but I did find the hero a little too passive for my liking (why I couldn’t rate it higher). Not a fan of heroes who stay away for reasons (and sulk) and it takes a third party to tell them what to do before going after the heroine. Dare was right to call him what he did…but the hero and heroine got their HEA in the end so I guess that’s that.

Don't know what to make of it. I ended up reading it to the end but I found it very hard to connect or relate with the characters or storyline. Definitely not my cuppa tea.

The plot started off so good! I was drawn in right away by Asher and Briar. But at about the 50% mark... she lost me. It went downhill SO fast! Cliches abound in the second half, the characterization somehow becomes weaker in every character, the plot lowkey makes no sense (the main couple just skims over the miscommunication because they’re “communicating with their bodies”... no the author is just drawing the plot out). And the ending was so cringey. So cringey.

I’ve heard good things about the second book in the series so I might pick it up later!

I struggled to make it through this, but I’m trying to read some of the titles that have been in my cloud for years, so here we are. The over-the-top drama, thoroughly unlikeable characters and multiple plot holes made it a challenge. This is the first I’ve read by this author and I’ll try again, this just wasn’t for me.

The characters and style of writing was ok but the plot was on repeat and just became boring. No real climax just same old same old repeated story line.

The book was okay, but the whole thing felt rushed. It also felt a little… odd reading it since the main character was so young and it was such an erotic book. Didn’t finish because it felt strange.

I didn't think this book was so good. It was slow and mediocre. It had some heavy parts. But I expected more.

I’ll admit I skimmed the last 15 percent. Just got bored with a plot I’ve read many time s before.

I tried to finish the book but couldn't. It was kind of depressing. Two books by this author and such a difference! Missbehaved was so much more in every way but this one?... Teenagers with hateful personality, drinking, hooking up and swearing. Not cool at all.

DNF @50%.

Well, this is disappointing. I read Misbehaved by this duo and it was a pleasant surprise. I fully expected to enjoy this one, as well, since I like reading about this trope.

Sadly, it did a 180. Started out pretty good, then nosedived. For me, of course.

So girl loves her older brother's best friend. Said best friend had a rough childhood, he liked girl back but wouldn't do anything because she was younger than him.

Then he ups and leaves. Fast forward three years, he comes back, all big and bad - he kind of needs some anger management but who am I to judge? - and that's where it started.

The eye-rolling.

I love banter, I love back-and-forths between the main characters. But this type of banter isn't for me. The I-hate-you-but-wanna-f**k-you-anyway from him and the I-can't-stand-you-but-my-body-has-its-own-mind from her.

Cue eye-rolling.

Give me a break. Why is this such a big thing? It's pathetic. And you know what's worse? The heroine KNOWS she's being pathetic but hey, she can't control her body. Girl must be possessed or something.

Am I being mean? Maybe. But hey, so are they!

Sooo, hate s*x is a sure way of making me roll my eyes and DNF a book. Don't recommend it, kind of feel like I wasted my time so yeah, DNF and my standard 2 stars rating for it.
