It Works - But Material is Thin

I've been trying to be more active outdoors having lost 60lbs in the last 6 months...I prefer outdoor activities over going to the gym...but as the temperature has plummeted during the cold months, I've discovered my outdoor walking/hiking has diminished considerably. You'd think I would just visit the gym more often (and I should) but I find myself preferring the outdoors so much more. Decisions, decisions. My biggest obstacle was the fact that my face was literally freezing in the sub-freezing temps we experience where I live this time of year. While walking a couple weeks ago, I noticed a jogger run past me wearing a similar head balaclava and I had a new goal the moment I got home: order one for myself. So I did.

My only gripe is that the material is just so ridiculously thin, I worry that I can only wash it a few times before it will begin to fall apart in the washing machine. So I suppose I'll stick with washing it by hand in an attempt to extend the life. Keep in mind I've only had it for a short while, so I cannot say it will or won't last, but what I CAN tell you is this: the material is just shy of being see-thru it's so thin.

With that said...how does it work? Well, I wore it on my 6.4 mile hike yesterday in 18 degree weather. It kept my face surprisingly comfortable considering how thin it is. The only problem - and I wouldn't blame the product for this, because this would be an issue regardless of the material it was made from, but it was sunny (but DANG cold) and so I wore my sun glasses to help vs the brightness of the sun and the glare of all the white snow and almost every time I exhaled, it fogged up my glasses. It got crazy annoying after a couple miles...but I didn't have much of a choice. I had the same issue when I covered my face with a scarf before I got the balaclava so it's not really a design flaw - though I would imagine you could find one that reduces the fogging of glasses, but I would wager it would cost a considerably larger amount. That is the next part of why I like this hood...it's fairly inexpensive. For the price, it's hard to beat. Especially since it works and does what it's supposed to.

I'll definitely consider buying another one.

good for 45 degrees under my motorcycle helmet, but not for winter riding.
maybe I can use this for a dust/virus mask? very thin.
just got it , so I don't know how long it will last or wash.

The mask was purchased as required for my job. I could wear a regular mask, but having to wear a hairnet musses up my hair. When I go on break the hair nets must be removed, leaving my hair out of place. so I wanted an uninsulated hood/mask. The problem I had at first was that they cover the ears, making it hard to insert my earplugs. I learned to pull the sides out to a bit to insert and remove them. They work well.

Cheaper than a Hotel

I am going to have a blue light treatment on my face soon. After the treatment I cannot be in sun or near windows for 48 hours. I have to get home and I live in a place with lots of windows. Living in a dark hotel room for 48 hours does not appeal so I looked for something like a lightweight balaclava on Amazon. If Amazon doesn't have it it may not exist. I found these and ordered a pink one.

This is exactly what I wanted. Lightweight, smooth, and comfortable. The top of my nose and around my eyes are exposed, but I can deal with that. It's not something I will wear after the two days are over--as far as I know, so the price is right. Very pleased to find just the right thing.
