The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat, and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with several genres, ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements in innovative ways. In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", but as the group's music grew in sophistication, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, they came to be perceived as an embodiment of the ideals shared by the counterculture of the 1960s.

This product has only just arrived so maybe I am a bit early to leave feedback but here goes. At first glance, I am really pleased with it. The arrangements (listed below) are well thought out and on the whole work well. What I would have liked is the notation (this comes in both standard notation and tablature) to vary from verse to verse. Instead its a case of playing the verse and playing the same again. I would have liked some slight nuances that would not detract from the tune but add interest to the listener. I would recommend this product. I was unsure when reading previous reviews, which book would arrive as there appears to be two versions. This review is the book arranged by John Hill. It has 31 songs. These are :

An excellent book for fingerpickers and classical guitarists looking for some performance material. I can also recommend Eric Schoenbergs similar book. Fingerpicking Beatles

Both of these books need a technique somehwre above Grade 6 on the exam scale so not aimed at the average player. But with practice an intermediate player would crack some of these arrangements. They are not difficult just for the sake of being challenging. And they sound beautiful if you're up to working on these.

I often have a Beatles day. This is perfect for that.It is a top performance book. The arrangments are first class. Normally a classical guitar Beatles book. Will just give the main theme, and fill-ins. John Hill though provides detailed arrangements. A lot of the songs have the solo's as well. Such as 'A Hard Day's Night'. and 'Something'. The book has a great selection of songs. Some of the later Beatles work, are included.From the White Album. ''Goodnight' is especially good. Also 'Free as a Bird'. Makes my guitar sound excellent.

Really nice arrangements. Some comments say they are difficult to play. I don't agree. The book could have added the tempo notes as most songs should be played quite slowly, so I don't think they are difficult but certainly not for beginners. A CD would have helped as would fingering positions.
