I got this as a free book through BookBub. I have started close to ten of the free books I have got through Bookbub. This is the first I have finished. It is good. The pace is decent through most of the story, the premise is original and interesting, and the humour works well. Kenney has done a good job of imagining how a world run by girls would be different, and how boys would be forced to change their ways.

Once the practical jokes began, I was concerned that they would become tired, but Kenney chose the right moment to shift the story onto a new tack. He knows what he is doing. Overall the plot was plausible and the characters were good.

My minor gripes would be that towards the end Peter becomes a little too cocky and sure of himself for an 11 year old, and I wasn't sure about the ending. As I now see that this is supposed to be the start of a series, I will forgive Kenney the ending, as I can see there are good opportunities to continue Peter's story from his new 'home'.

This is a really good length for a book. This book is really funny, at the right parts. The story is interesting because it is set in the future. I'm almost 10, and in 4th grade. I think this book would be especially great for boys or girls from 3rd grade to 6th grade. I loved this book because it was exciting from beginning to end. I own it on Kindle and in paperback, so I could take it anywhere - even to school. Great story!

This is a book and boy and his father should read. Anyone who has had their eyes open for the past couple of decades knows there is an effort going on in this country to break down the father in a family (from commercials, books and TV shows that constantly portray the father or male character as a complete dufus who cannot do anything right and needs his wife or girlfriend to fix everything). This book is a look in the future as that process succeeds.

In the Beef Jerky Gang, not only are men no longer really a part of society but they are treated and led to believe they are stupid and worthless. That is, until Peter Mills discovers the secret of being a man.

There are numerous things to like about the book; the message about current society, the prank scenes are very funny but the book also teaches Peter than being a man means to be courteous, kind, respectful and most of all to take responsibility for your actions... all things that are missing from many in today's world.

I read this book and told my 10 year son that he needs to read it. He loved it probably even more than I did and had reread it a few times already.
