We have the ever present fights with the hierarchy especially Chard as Dixon endeavours to follow his hunches. His romance is continued though is on hold because of the case. There is good detective work well explained. The dog Monte plays an important but ugly part in the story. I love dogs but keep a perspective that Dixon doesn't.
I reserve my judgement on Damien and the drift to sensationalism and mayhem until I read future books. His stories stand well in their good writing relationships and characterisation without the need to go down that route.
In the capable hands and mind of Damien Boyd, we are captivated by the plausible legal tangle which could come from that uniquely British attribute: a mixture of stubbornly getting it right, obedience to a less-than-perfect hierarchy of “Sirs,” and “Ma’m’s,” an often constricting demand for fair-play; and the ever-present problem of how to pay for this public service.
This was a great read, with a beautiful touch of (wait for it, don’t peep!) at the end.
Thank you Damien.
Living in Bristol for the first 28 years of my life I am familiar with the local territory used for the setting of these books that adds to the pleasure. Every previous book had been a top effort and a very good story line with good characterisation of those involved in the action, even with the mention of the main characters dog.
I suggest one start looking for the other books by this author all available on Amazon Kindle.
A nice flowing story moving through the investigation of the intricacies of a messy conspiracy.
I’m looking forward to number 10 and the lives of Nick, Jane and Monty as much as the police investigation that will go along with it.
Bring it on as soon as possible.
Another one of my favourite authors.
I have pre ordered his next one and have to wait until early May to get it. I can only hope that he and Jane don't get married as that suggests # 11 in the offering.

My only criticism would be that the author can't assume that the reader knows the characters and storylines from the previous books. This story followed on from the events in the last book, which if you hadn't read or had forgotten the plot, meant you were a little confused to start off with.
I have enjoyed Beyond the Point as much of not more than the others. Once again I struggled to put the book down and couldn't wait to pick it up again.
Thank you Damien for being an amazing author and I wait signatures breath for the next in the series of DI Nick Dixon.
Thank you Damien Boyd for giving up the day job to concentrate on writing - your books are so well worth the read.
