To be honest in enjoyed reading this, my son also liked it but we both noticed that stories or situations are not as funny or interesting as before, in some instances you can see the author is trying really hard to be funny, but it is not as natural or genuine as it was in the first few books. Not sure if it is my imagination but in the past 2 or 3 books pictures are occupying more space than before? (I.e. less space for actual text/story) . Being again very honest we will probably read the next one when it comes out too (as in 'borrow', no more buying), I just hope the shortcomings of the last couple of books are addressed .
