Probably not since Dallas in it's heyday have so many objectionable and morally duplicitous characters combined to provide such rollicking entertainment as this show which centres on the ongoing battles between hedge fund owner Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) and District Attorney for Southern New York Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti). Whilst some of the dialogue can sometimes descend into cliche using psycho babble and financial jargon with characters making statements rather than actually conversing this is no way gets in the way of a story being well told and which has no difficulty in maintaining the audience's attention throughout the twelve episodes of Season 2.
Of particular interest in addition to all the regular members of the cast who continue to perform consistently well is the character of an intern analyst (Taylor Mason) who becomes a protege of Axelrod and who is played by non-binary gender Asia Kate Dillon - the first such to appear on mainstream TV in the U.S.A.
Billions has been renewed by Showtime for a third series and there is plenty of mileage left to see which of the two titans eventually wins out. The fact that the show is loosely based on fact is not necessarily a guarantee that the outcome will be the same as happened back in 2013.
The extras comprise Being Billions / Making Billions in New York and They Theirs & Them. The only subtitles are English SDH.

A stylish take on a moral morass

It would be five stars, but 'I love it' is a step too far, given the primary conflict takes place between two reprehensible characters, so there's no-one to root for. However, watching two self-centred bastards battling it out in a financial stratosphere, is not without brilliant writing and brilliant acting. Both are breath-taking. As is the support cast - what superb casting. Production is high level and editing: phew. All in all, a satisfying series to watch, which means I'll be gratefully awaiting the next series.
One major astonishment though: the creation of a female character, who is married to one of the protagonists and yet the emotional advisor to the other. A brave choice and one I've never come across after 60 years of watching shows.

This is one of those series where you try to describe it to someone, and it sounds awful ("there's this really rich guy who's a hedge fund manager... ") but in fact it's really rather brilliant. The acting is tremendous; like The Affair, it's really a quartet of actors at the very top of their game, and the writing is spot-on as well. There's no need to take it too seriously (some of it is extremely funny), and yet it's quite a serious piece about ambition and drive and capitalism in modern society, but all in all it's a pretty good bit of TV drama and deserves a wider audience.

Another great season of this TV-serie that I consider to be among the best ever made. It is up there with "Six Feet Under", and "Sopranos". Sadly I could not find it with Swedish subtitles so it showed my lack of knowledge in the English language but I do think even so I will be able to enjoy it now and in the future.
