Tested it after charging, and other people were spot on. It's great for sucking up very, very dry leaves that are small. If you have many oak leaves (there are no other kind of Oak leaves..) honestly, forget, it jammed 3 times in about 10 minutes. If you do one oak leaf at a time it isn't so bad, but there are thousands. Maple leaves are okay they shread nicely. It also blows, but seems weaker than the dedicated blower I already bought. I need it to suck leaves from hard to rake places so won't be returning it. If I was 30 years younger I'd likely return this. Doesn't save much work as I'll still have to manually rake the Oak leaves. It is great though at sucking up all the other debris on the lawn, small leaves, small twigs, etc. Could use a bigger bag, at least it shreds so nicely that you can use it instantly for mulch. If all you have is OAKs or similar hardwoods with large tough leaves... buy a rake.
If you need a leaf vac don’t buy this. The blower is fine and the cordless battery is fine ,but sucking up leafs is useless. The hole into where the blade is is too small and constantly gets clogged.. even if you let leafs dry. It can only take in a few leafs at a time, don’t take anymore than that it will clog. Returning it for a works yard 3in1. It’s plug in more power. And it has a metal blade now the B and D has a small PLASTIC blade. Don’t buy!
I love this. I had an electric one prior and it was horrible dragging around a cord. The battery that came with this only charges to 3 green vs 4 which does impact the length of time, I purchased a back up battery which was and excellent purchase. It charges to full strength. The unit only likes to suck small amount of leaves at a time and does not like to suck up the spines of the leaves. If someone wants to move away from an electric “sucker” to battery I would recommend this unit but by a back up battery.
This is great for weekly cleanups such as sucking leaves and maple keys that fall on deck or blowing leaves, oak nuts and caps from driveway. Light to use, decent battery life (I have two batteries as have a B&D battery trimmer that also has a battery but only need one). Battery charges very quick 30 mins or so. Light enough for wife so she even will use (value for money) unlike the stronger gas powered blower/vac that I use for fall
I have a Black and Decker "plug-in" - 120 volt - leaf blower/vacuum which works well but it is very heavy and trailing the extension cord is a nuisance. I thought I would buy the 40 volt battery powered version to save weight and the inconvenience of the extension cord. My first use of the new machine was an attempt to vacuum leaf-litter from my driveway: even at the highest power setting it didn't have sufficient suction to vacuum up the dry dead leaves. Please note the battery was brand new and fully charged.
I find it works okay for hard surfaces like the trampoline and around the covered entryway (concrete) where leaves and such always blow in. It is great that there is no cord to drag around and get caught around corners . However, unfortunately, it does not do well with anything but single leaves...it will get plugged if trying to pick up a small fallen cluster of leaves or the long twig that comes with walnut leaves and forget about anything but small twigs. The suction isn't great and battery life lasts about 10 minutes. But having said that, I find it works well for what I need it for. (Sorry, to clarify, I am only reviewing the vacuuming/suction feature which is all I use it for....I have not even used the blower feature. I had previously purchased a blower (different brand) which I keep handy for that purpose only. I then I don't have to switch over the machine from suction/blower...just grab and go.
Pros: 1. This works well and is very quiet. I was shocked at how quiet this is. 2. The vacuum and the blower function work well on very dry and loose debris. 3. It is very lightweight. 4. Battery seems to last fine.
Cons: 1. It is not as strong as I wanted. 2. It cannot handle anything that is not completely dry and loose.
I purchased this to keep the area from the front door to my car clear of debris and snow. I have not had a chance to try it on snow yet; but with the leaves, dirt and other debris in the spring and summer, it has not been able to deal with anything that is wet, or packed. I am hoping that it will work with snow; however, it seems that it will only be useful for powdered snow. If it had a bit more power, I would have given it 5 stars. As it is the quietness of it pushes it almost into the 5 star range without the power.
Good little landscape vacuum for small clean-ups. Not suitable for big piles of leaves, heavy twigs or wet material. Very limited bag capacity. Blower function is very weak; about the same strength as my 20 volt B&D blower. The FAST 1-hour charger and battery in this bundle complements my 40 Volt B&D battery collection expanding the utility of my other B&D 40 volt equipment.
It worked ok for about 10 hours and then the connector would not stay connected. The concept is good and the suction was reasonable but not great. The blower was adequate for reaching areas that I cannot get to with extension cord. No way to fix it so it sits in the corner. Good idea but connector for attachments not robust enough. Off to recycle. 😟
Absolutely no suction at all, it barely sucks anything in, and when it finally does it all gets stuck inside. There is no way to open the device to unclog it. Returning mine, the black suction tube does not come apart easily, almost impossible to take apart to return the product so you're kind of stuck with it. Stay away it is underpowered and not returnable when you realize how bad it is....still not sure how ill get the leaves out of mine.
