this is the 2nd book in the series, I read both. I quite liked the overall storyline and characters.
But ! Why did the lead Detective have to have every sort of challenge going on, besides the job. Seriously - divorced and a difficult one, cant see his son, a boss who threatens him with being fired regularly, car that is on the verge of breaking down. PTSD, Come on...

Blood Water Falls is book 2 in T.G. Reid’s DCI Duncan Bone series. Loved the first book and the second one is just as good if not better. The writing is superb and in the Prologue I could see the setting in my mind as the description was just so good. I would love to have seen the photos taken of the sunrise at the Falls, as I could see it so clearly. The story had a few twists in it and was quite intense at times, but this was offset by Mullens and the humour he brought to the story. Just loved the book.

Very much enjoyed the first book of this series and found this 2nd one was as good, if not better. The story’s set at a good pace and I found I read it in only a few sittings as I just had to find out what happened! The characters are progressing well and being filled out nicely and the descriptions of the falls and photos at the start were fantastic, I could almost see them. Will definitely be looking forward to the 3rd book.

DCI Bone, still recovering from injury is given a case of a missing local which turns into murder. He, his DI and team are coming to dead ends in their enquiries. Things get very personal for Bone and at times I feel his character goes over the top with his anger and frustration, unbecoming for a DCI. After a series of chases and accidents the perp is caught and Bone ends up in A & E again. I liked the story but the DCI must attend anger management courses !! I will certainly keep on reading this series !!

I read the first Bone book, and although it had some issues, it did enough to get me reading book 2, which is a decent 3 star police procedural.
However, still too many cliches for me to rate it any higher. Hero with issues and a young son and butter ex wife? Check. Political animal boss who hates hero? Check. Local journalist who hates hero, gay second in command, comic relief sergeant, tech-wiz nerd? Check.
Sorry is reasonable, dialogue much improved from book 1.
And if the author -or their editor - reads this, Stop Using the word Quipped! Seriously, just stop it. Once or twice in a whole novel is tolerable, twice in one page, several times in a chapter, is not.

The second in the DCI Bone series starts with a murder at an iron-rich waterfall. The investigation soon nets rather too many possible suspects. The development of the main characters in the team is well done, and our ‘light relief’ in Mullens is a scream. I actually felt myself want to lamp the reporter, too! There are some great characters in this, and another really intriguing plot. I do think a good balance of both makes for the best reading.

This is book 2 in the DCI Bone series. The 1st one was brilliant so it was going to be a big ask to have the same quality in the 2nd one. It certainly did that, and in spades!

The descriptions at the beginning about the falls was so real so I was immediately transported to the area. The story is yet another gripping one and so easy to read. Despite the attacks throughout the book, there is plenty of humour throughout which makes it even more enjoyable.

I love the team banter as well as the personal side of things, particularly for Bone with his ex-wife and son, and Mullens with his father.

I really hope this becomes a long-running series and hope there's not too long a wait for book 3.

Scots Law is different from English Law.

Surely any author writing a crime novel set in Scotland should know at least the basics of Scots Law? When DI Walker here arrests a suspect, she launches into the long-winded caution you hear on English TV shows. This is not the way it is done in Scotland ! The Scottish arrest caution is simply along the lines of, "You are not obliged to say anything, but anything you do say will be noted and my be given in evidence". This glaring error ruined the whole novel for me.
