Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.
Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating bestsellers. And he's Nora's work nemesis.
Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she's the one men date before finding their happy-ever-after. To prevent another dating dud, Nora's sister has persuaded her to swap her city desk for a month's holiday in Sunshine Falls.
It's a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into...Charlie.
She's no heroine. He's no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?
Brimming with witty banter, characters you can't help but fall for and off-the-charts chemistry, BOOK LOVERS is Emily Henry's best novel yet.

About the author

Emily Henry writes stories about love and family for both teens and adults. She studied creative writing at Hope College and the now-defunct New York Center for Art & Media Studies, and now spends most of her time in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the part of Kentucky just beneath it. Nora is cardboard coated in cement. Granted, she did have a minor growth during the story, she was just came off uptight and juvenile at times. I really did want to like her, I tried so hard. Her relationship with her sister was one of the weirdest sibling relationships I have experienced. Communication was severely lacking there. Libby didn't seem to get enough time to be developed, then she ended up being part of the big bang for the story. It felt a little rushed and unplanned. Charlie was a borefest. Possibly one of the worst MMC love interests on the pages that I've seen recently. The setting was off, I'm not sure what kind of vibe that was meant to be strived for, but it didn't hit it.
I'm hoping this book and story was just not for me.
My positive here - is our edition here in Australia is so beautiful and colourful. It'll look so pretty on my shelf.
I'd recommend this for you if you're already a fan on Henry's or if a romance is your thing when there is no proper building and is just pure chaos.
I laughed a lot, I cried a bit, and I feel like I just had a big hug.
I don’t have much to say here that won’t spoil important aspects of the story other than this: I highly recommend you read this book.
Will read whatever she publishes next
Emily Henry is firmly cementing her herself as a comfort read author for me. This is the second book of hers I've read and the second time I've given her work five stars. Book Lovers is a wonderful story filled with beautiful complex and flawed characters, and so much emotional and personal growth.
Charlie and Nora are two characters, who at first glance, appear to have nothing in common except professions in the literary industry. However, these two people suddenly find themselves in the same small town at the exact same time, for completely different reasons. It's here they discover that they actually have more in common than initially thought.
What I adored about this book was how easy it was to delve into and feel a part of their (fictional) world. From the first page to the last, I was hooked. Their wins and their losses felt like my wins and my losses; and I was eagerly invested in their well-deserved happily-ever-after.
I loved that the romance between Charlie and Nora felt easy and comfortable as it made for the change of focus to other areas in their lives more simple. There were so many individual aspects to unpack in this story (e.g. family, friends, exes, their history) but it never felt rushed or unnecessary which is exactly what I need in a book that touches on heavier subjects.
Overall, another great book by Emily Henry and one that I'm already considering how soon I can begin my re-read!
The anticipation I felt, waiting to read this was something else entirely. And now that I've finally finished reading, I know that it was well worth it!

As expected, a beautifully written story with crystal clear descriptions that arent ridiculously flowery (thankfully) nor are they overused (she let out the breath she didn't know she was holding... Am I right?). As you can imagine, I'm not a big fan of long descriptions. I like action and lively diologue. But here Emily gives us LOL and heart breaking actions, superb diologue and descriptions that you've never read before and you wonder "how have these words never been used to describe this situation/characters/story before by another author?!".
Emily was good before. But here she's a genius! A master of her craft! Someone to aspire to be like (or just become friends with). She doesn't need to get any better than this, but if she does, that would be a lottery winning ticket to us readers/her bank account and all the people behind the scenes that make this happen and get paid to do so. Apologies for all the rambling. I'm just so in love with this book/these characters/the tears she made me cry/the HEA!
You probably read the blurb already, so now just jump right in. THIS is what 80% of the books should be like but aren't. Emily is magic!
Having said all this, I have a small warning for you (regarding the content): one of the characters suffers from Parentification (if you are a new mom you may have come across this on IG or else you may identify with this character and understand why you behave the way that you do). I'm not going to explain this here as I'm not a therapist and it's not my place (but I would suggest a quick search to understand it). Some people may find it slightly (psychologically) triggering. It is beautifully done and not just a gimmick.
Now buy it, stay up late reading it, cry over it and thank Emily later :)

Admittedly, I struggled to warm to Nora in the opening chapters, and found those same chapters a little slow going. But from the second the sisters arrived in Sunshine Falls, I really warmed to her. By chapter nine I was totally invested and beginning to understand why Nora had become the woman she was now. Nora has lived her life putting herself last. It was heartbreaking reading about how she had been compartmentalising her feelings for so long.
I loved Charlie. In many ways he's like me. A stranger in his own family. He has the same dry sense of humour as Nora (and myself), and I found myself rooting for them almost immediately. Their banter was top tier: simultaneously hilarious with wicked sharp retorts but also hot as sin; and it always felt authentic (I have entire pages annotated). The chemistry was incredible. This is slow burn, enemies-to-lovers/soulmates done right. But more than that, this is a story of self-acceptance, and of sisterhood. I probably cried non-stop for the final ten chapters. That, for me, is the sign of a great book. Book Lovers is a story of two of them trying to find that perfect last page.
My first book by this author, I will definitely be catching up on Emily Henry's previous books!
