There was nothing about ‘Butterflies’ I liked. The cast tried too hard to raise a laugh. It was so funny I forget to laugh. The only place for this pathetic series is to consign it to the rubbish bin. Wendy Craig is really a poor thing in this series.

A Flutter In Your Tummy

What an amazing TV series this was, and still is! I remember watching this as a youngster and although at that age I shouldn't have understood it, I actually did! Everyone who starred in it, Geoffrey Palmer, Wendy Craig, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Andrew Hall,Bruce Montague, Michael Ripper and Joyce Windsor, were fantastic! It was funny but had an underlying sadness to it particularly for poor Rhia (Wendy Craig) the middle class housewife who was a good wife and mother but a dreadful cook and who used to meet her secret love, Leonard (Bruce Montague) in the park. We all remember that lovely theme tune don't we? Dolly Parton's ' Love Is Like A Butterfly'. We all thought she sang it but actually it wasn't! It was a singer called Clare Torry who is more famous for her work with Pink Floyd on the track 'Great Gig In The Sky'. Clare did the fantastic ad-lib 'ooh woo's'. I never get tired of watching this box set. Brings back happy memories plus I had a secret crush on Andrew Hall who played Russell! *BLUSH*

A Forgotten Gem

In my humble opinion, possibly the greatest sit-com ever written. Although sit-com doesn't tell the whole story or do it justice. A brilliantly written and acted slice of Englishness, from a time sadly, long gone. Every viewer of a certain age will be able to recognise aspects of the bitter-sweet parable presented here in leafy Cheltenham. Tears of joy and sadness are promised every episode. Simply glorious !

Superb!! Golden days of smiles & laughter!

Superb!! For those of us who grew up with these programmes this is a must for the collection!
I, for one will always admire the efforts of Ria as she drifts from one seamless day to the next in her own world of romance and wistful notions whilst her husband and two sons brave their way through another hilarious course of regular cullinary disasters at the family dining table!
Excellent viewing and a great interpretation of family life back then ... golden days with plenty of smiles!

Good to have the whole series

Good to have the whole series. Not often repeated like the other sitcoms from this era that are on a constant loop on TV so to have the set is great when I feel like reminiscing when comedies were well written, funny and not one botoxed face, false nail or hair extension to be seen!

I don’t know how someone can remember this give it a disappointing quote & one star. It may seem little dated for today remember think why have a cleaner if so bored kids were more like in late 2Os to be a t like there were. The relationship between Ria her hubby & Possible lover friend was brill innocent and sad at times. Loved Ria character warm funny moments instead of sex violence political correct prog if today
