Incredible setting, story and characters

Charlotte Pass is Lee Christine’s first foray into the crime genre, and what a fantastic way to start! Set amongst the beautiful but brutal winter backdrop of the Australian high country, Charlotte Pass is a fast paced crime/mystery that kept me turning the pages all the way to the end. An intriguing cast of colourful characters, two compelling leads in Vanessa and Ryder and a complex myriad of twists, turns, adventure and just a touch of romance made Charlotte Pass one of my favourite recent Australian crime novels. I would definitely recommend this novel and hope that we will get to see more of these characters and this spectacular setting in Lee Christine’s next books.

As someone who has spent a lifetime at Charlotte Pass, I struggled to understand the locations mentioned. The old chairlift was nowhere near the current slopes, etc. Apart from that, the book was a paint-by-numbers story with stock characters and a predictable storyline. A shame, as I love Charlotte Pass and was hoping for more.

First book from Lee Christine that I have come across originally attracted due to area set in as had visited description really brings to life. The story gripped from the outset and kept leading in various directions until end. Like the interaction between Detective Ryder and his new partner Flowers who grows on him through the book. It is my favourite genre of books and hasn't disappointed can't wait for next one.
