For inspiration only
Reviewed in the United States on 20 July 2020Verified Purchase
This book and it's companion volume are the reigning standards for a serious reference for Chinese landscape painting. They are in Chinese and really have only a few step-by-step examples. A better book for beginners is Rebecca Yue's "Chinese Landscapes Made Easy". I find that this book is more for inspiration than instruction. At least it's cheaper than a trip to the Guizhou, Guilin, and a Li river cruise.

The better how-to Chinese brush painting books are written in Chinese so English speakers have to rely on the illustrations. This book has excellent illustrations to follow.
