Great product but who packed it?

Product is perfect, so thanks! However what a ridiculous waste of packaging for something that should be sent in a tube! Note on the lip of the carton Amazon is using sustainable packaging but really not thinking about what is in the box at all! Very poor

Very happy with the purchase. Good quality, good size. Bought it for my son who is now learning
countries and capitals as well as his growing interest in geography is why I bought it. This serves well with its good size, readable text and vibrant colours.

Ruined by the barcode
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 December 2019Verified Purchase
This is such a beautiful map and is so colourful. However, it’s completely ruined by the bar code in the top right corner!! I’m now going to have to go to a craft store to buy paper to cover it, because that’s all I can see when I look at it. What a shame. If it weren’t for that, I’d give it 5 stars easily.

Vibrant and interesting, has UAE but no Singapore, looks like no barcode any longer
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 December 2020Verified Purchase
This map is the best I could find for my kids. The colours are very vibrant without being garish. The illustrations are mostly of animals although it has a few other interesting ones like the trans-Siberian railway, Russian dolls and pyramids. My 5 year old daughter has spent a lot of time looking at it. Even my 8 year old son who is not big into geography found it interesting.
The map is cellophane wrapped rather than in a cardboard tube. Although it comes in an enormous rectangular box mine came a little squashed on one side.
The map does not have Singapore. My copy does have UAE, although one reviewer mentioned that their's didn't. The capitals and other major cities are shown if there is space. The choice of illustrations is somewhat questionable in places. For example, no great wall of China, no mount Everest, no Rafflesia flower on Indonesia.
The barcode does not bother me anywhere near as much as it seems to some other reviewers. It's a poor choice by Collins nevertheless. I am sure there was a heated debate between the design team and the accounts about the position of the barcode and the accounts won. UPDATE on 19 April 2021: It appears that the barcode is no longer printed on the front. See product images and latest reviews.

U.A.E not labeled in the map
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2020Verified Purchase
The U.A.E is missing on the map. The country is there but it's not labeled. It took me ages to find it .. I had to go online to see where the country was, before I went back to the map and realised the name of the country isn't there. It's a wonderful map though and my kids love it. I'll write in the country with a pen!

Why print a barcode there?!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 April 2020Verified Purchase
The map looks lovely, except for the ridiculous decision to print a barcode over part of it!
It really is so much more offensive to the eye when it's up on your wall than it looks in the pictures online, where I barely noticed it. Detracts from an otherwise lovely colourful children's map. Such a shame!

Lovely poster spoilt by the barcode
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 January 2020Verified Purchase
Lovely map BUT why print a barcode on the poster with a small version of the map beside it (which doesn’t have a barcode on it). This really spoils the framed poster that i’d hoped to hang in my daughters room.
