From executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (Hercules), the critically acclaimed drama returns for it's third and final season. Colony Season 3 begins six months after the end of the previous season, with the Bowmans now living in a cabin in the woods and trying to rebuild a life outside of the walls. When they are reached by a group of Gray Hats, they are forced to run away leaving their new life behind; Snyder (Peter Jacobson) gets captured and is revealed to be on a mission to find the rebel station, while Will (Josh Holloway) and Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) manage to escape with the kids. When they all end up in a Resistance camp, Will and Katie must once again pick sides and join the fight, which will finally reveal the truth behind the colonisation.

The story has a novel premise and one that demonstrates the cunning, cold pragmatism of politics and the expediency of bureaucrats and enforcement officers who, seemingly selected for their somewhat self-serving traits, are content to plan and implement tyranny as long as they and their families have the finer things in life and are seemingly well protected.
I think it's a great shame that the show has been cancelled, especially as a great reveal about the alien life forms and their history was clearly around the corner. Apparently the storyline proved too complex to secure a large enough American audience. I think the show deserved a 4th series and financial backers more appreciative of the quality of the story than the viewers who switched off.
What a travesty of justice that this show was cancelled after only 3 seasons, particularly considering the glut of mindless mediocre trash around. Maybe that's why it really got cancelled because it's asking too many awkward questions?
The acting is superb and the characters are complex and involving. This is without a doubt the best work I have seen from Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies.
I can but hope that maybe someday this excellent series will be revived and we will get to see how the story continues.
