An all time classic!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 May 2015Verified Purchase
Already knew I loved the films, I can't count how many times I've watched them, but bought them for my poor ignorant 16 year old daughter, who, when asked recently whether she would take the blue pill or the red pill looked on in puzzlement with no understanding of the wit of this comment. When futher quizzing took place & I realised she had no idea that De Ja Vu is a glitch in the Matrix!!!!! I knew immediately that this glaring oversight in her education needed to be remedied post haste! I will not stand & be accused of inadequate parenting, so have bought this trilogy at a ridiculously low price (when you think of what's at stake here... My credibility as a good Mum!) & my poor neglected child has been provided with this marvelous tool that will ensure, not only her future happiness, but hopefully a good many of her friends' who all stand mooning about without any concept of REALITY!

Matrix Trilogy in 4K = one of the best UHD Box set of 2018
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 December 2018Verified Purchase
WOW just WOW !!! I will not talk about the movies again (I am a huge fan of all 3 of them) but the 4K discs are mind blowing. HDR is top notch and gives the greenish universe of the computer world while showing every detail of the human world (The attack of the Sentinels in Revolutions is jaw dropping) with a punch that was absent from the Blu ray releases.. Dolby Atmos soundtrack is one the best I've heard this year and for movies that have nearly 20 years, these tracks are demo worthy.. This box set is worth every penny and should be in the collection of any Matrix fan that is equipped with 4K .. Definitely a must buy

Matrix Trilogy in 4K
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 March 2019Verified Purchase
Although I agree with most of the other positive comments on this 4K remaster I found one major flaw that could easily have not and should not have been a problem. And a second personal gripe that I think other Matrix fans would agree and compare to...
1. The colour, gamma, contrast corrections are excellent during the darker scenes. But it looks like these settings were decided from the intro of the movie by whoever and they just left them for the whole movie. This meant the brighter day scenes look about 10-20% over solarised. One key scene when Morpheus explains The Matrix to Neo in the White loading program the contrast causes a diffused blur between the actors and the bight white. Similar in the training program moments later on "Pause" there is a motion smear when Morpheus walks around the paused actors like old cheap dvds used to get. It's like the person doing this couldn't be bothered to watch the film to know the scenes and then manually correct them as they came up.
On the plus side the "Green hue" of The Matrix has been reduced to the subtle level it should have always been.
2. The CGI effects although still stand up considering it's been 20 years. I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to have it redone like George Lucas redid Star Wars. It was the Wachowskis baby, they probably have personal ownership of the untreated negatives and I'm sure Warner Bros would rerelease it at the cinema and make a fortune.
Other than that I agree with most of the other positive reviews for this 4K remaster but there's no way I can give more than 3 stars as it has equally destroyed the key scenes as much as it enhanced the rest of the movie.
I paid £35 for it and am feeling ok but I'm certainly glad I didn't pay £45 and don't recommend anyone paying that much for them.

Fantastic Set
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 April 2020Verified Purchase
Note: this is a review of this set, not the movies themselves. Odds are you’ll have your opinion on that already.
WB have done a fantastic job here. The films have been rescanned at 4k resolution, and newly colour-timed, with green being far less pervasive in the Matrix itself. This was overseen by Bill Pope, the director of photography on all three films. He also oversaw the HDR pass, which is excellent, and Dolby Vision is even included.
As you’d expect, CGI suffers somewhat as a result, having been rendered at 2k resolution and sadly not re-rendered for this release (to be fair, it’s an expensive process, but it's still a shame). The 4k discs are reportedly 100GB too, giving a nice high bit rate.
If you’re curious as to why there are nine discs rather than six, considering the previous blu-ray trilogy was three discs and there are no additional bonus features (sadly, this means no Animatrix, despite these 25GB bonus discs having ample room had just one been bumped up to 50GB), it’s because the 1080p film discs have also benefitted from the new colour pass, and have had Dolby Atmos soundtracks applied to them too, so the bonus material got bumped to another disc to give those new masters a higher bit rate, which is a nice bonus, if somewhat redundant when you have each film in glorious 4k, but there you go. They made the effort.

Garbage 4k transfer
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2019Verified Purchase
Awful 4K transfer... Not clean at all... virtually no HDR. Of all the movies to con out on.... this was a total dissapointment. Heard the same about Bourne box set... doesnt say much about the medium.. way to go. This was watched on a 2 grand OLED with a Sony X700 UHD player.
