Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined A Court of Thorns and Roses series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta...
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly – proud, swift to anger and slow to forgive. And since the war – since being made High Fae against her will – she's struggled to forget the horrors she endured and find a place for herself within the strange and deadly Night Court.
The person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred, winged warrior who is there at Nesta's every turn. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. And when they are forced to train in battle together, sparks become flame.
As the threat of war casts its shadow over them once again, Nesta and Cassian must fight monsters from within and without if they are to stand a chance of halting the enemies of their court. But the ultimate risk will be searching for acceptance – and healing – in each other's arms.

I also got bored with the plot, which was pushed aside for said explicit scenes and only really comes into play for the last 20 chapters - which isn't much considering there's over 80 chapters in the book.
The other problem I have, which I also had in the other books, is that SJM makes her characters too powerful, to the point that you never fear for their lives because their power is so great that they can get themselves out of ANY predicament - which makes things boring. SJM doesn't like to take risks with her characters and won't depart with any of them for the sake of good storytelling.
Don't get me wrong, I really like these characters and SJM is good at world building, but I feel as though she got lazy with this book, as 70% takes place in/around the House of Wind, and some of the story elements she's taken from real life and other stories, such as the Valkyries and the Wild Hunt, which feels like plagiarism to me as I know Sarah is creative enough to make up her own mythical beings.
All in all, I enjoyed this book, but let's face it, the book is little more than fan service
This book was well worth the 4 year wait. Nesta and Cassian were absolute fire and hotness I just loved them.
Nesta was such an imperfect character, I'd go from hating her, to understanding her to completely respecting her. It wasnt an easy journey, for her or Cassian. And damn does Cass deserve an award for waiting Nesta out because she was horrible!!! Utterly horrible!
SJM did so well with this story. It was more than a love/hate book, there was raw, desperate and brave moments throughout it that made me love this book completely.
If I could give it 100 stats I would.
A lot of people were doubtful when Nesta was announced as the FMC, but I was excited to finally get a look into the stoic young females mind. I feel a connection with Nesta, I understand the need to make people hate you because your self doubt is a festering monster inside. And, damn Nesta! Ain't she just a secret succubus in the sack?!
Despite the change in main characters, this book still had all the qualities and that general feel to it that connected it to the ACOTAR series. The new challenges were thrilling, the beasts are terrifying and the emotions were overpowering. Thank you, Maas, for empowering women, for exploring poisonous mind-games and for welcoming all with open arms.
the mental battle of learning to love oneself and to accept friendship and love from others, to the physical battle with fitness and uplifting achievements. This story of Nesta and Cassian is one I will read again.
This book was just so fantastic. All the elements woven into each other that brings you such an epic, heart wrenching adventure. There are new characters that you just utterly fall in love with, twists that blow your mind and you don’t see coming, but most of all my favourite was that it shows how everyone deals with trauma differently.
Man I hated Nesta at the beginning, but then I heard her story and her pain and struggles and watched her grow and my heart ached so much for her. By the end I wanted her to have all the happiness.
Cassian is everything. He has a heart of gold and has stolen mine.
These two together, phew! Explosive tension. Steamy scenes. Fantastic banter. There is nothing better.
I loved how everything unfolded. I couldn’t put it down at the end and stayed WAY way to late finishing, but I couldn’t stop. It was addicting and enthralling. And that ending had me in tears. I just. I have no more words. It was perfection and if you love this series, this book is a must!

Anyway heres my thoughts.. while i dont mind a few adult steamy scenes i feel it was a bit OTT and after the first few i skipped pages. If i'd wanted to read an erotic or explicit story i would've.
Also, somehow it seems as though Nesta becomes the most powerful of the group.
So the character who the treated people who cared about her like rubbish through 3 books.. ends up being rewarded with the most power? Over Feyre and Rhysand? I know that the power adjustment levelled out eventually.. but i felt much of her behaviour was excused and even those excuses she gave felt rediculous..
I loved all the other characters and the banter between them.. just Nesta's behaviour and her power completley through me off.
The other characters made it worthwile reading.
Sorry, but both my daughter and i felt a bit disappointed with this story which sucks as i love all of Sarah's other books.. My daughter is disappointed more so as she is a massive Sarah J Mass fan.

It did not disappoint.
Nesta’s journey is probably one of the hardest to read (and one of the strongest character arcs in the series so far) - her internal battle for her own self-worth is heartbreaking and inspiring all at once.
I laughed, I cried a bit (the ending GOT ME), but most of all I loved being back in the world with some of my favourite characters.
I cannot wait to see what happens next...
