Lovely collection of stories about the different musicians mothers and the musicians themselves. An interesting read on childhood development and the importance of music and some very poignant moments. Most of all a very sweet tribute from Dave Grohl's Mum to a son she loves and who he clearly adores back.

I found this book to be a gem. Ms. Grohl's interviews with Mothers of musical stars gives a very much different look at what it is that makes for a rock (or other genre) star a success. In all cases, the mothers did everything they could to assist in making their child's career choice possible. One consistent theme is that schools need to do a better job in providing programs that give children with an impulse for the arts an opportunity to express themselves. Most of the subjects of this book (not the mothers - the kids) had difficulty with schooling in general, and not because they were anything less than brilliant. They are brilliant, but not in a "conventional" sense.

The one overriding theme throughout the book is that Virginia Grohl unequivocally loves her son David.
