Had to buy this as eye bleach after torturing myself with the newest “prologue” instalment that was just awful. AWFUL. The original is brilliant fun for the teenage witch inside... additionally, this movie has one of the best soundtracks of that era.

I bought this bluray to replace a DVD copy assuming the image quality would be vastly superior.
It isn’t! Perhaps it is slightly mildly almost a bit higher resolution than the DVD in some scenes but overall the improvement isn’t uniform and isn’t enough to justify the higher price.

“You know how to use candles?” [Lirio],
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 May 2016Verified Purchase
In this 1996 dark supernatural drama, troubled teenager Sarah Bailey (Robin Tunney) moves Los Angeles with her father and stepmother where she befriends three outcast girls who are rumoured to be witches; Bonnie (Neve Campbell), Nancy (Fairuza Balk) and Rochelle (Rachel True). When Sarah is chased by a vagrant and he is hit by a car, the girls believe that Sarah has powers and will complete their coven, making them all-powerful. But when each becomes traumatised, they realise that they actually do have powers, but can they control their angst?
Fans of ‘Charmed’ will instantly recognise this as the catalyst for the Tv show, complete with the Tv theme tune, a ‘Piper’ trial character and the ‘power of three’ [actually repeating a refrain thrice], this also may also have inspired the ‘Wiccan’ magic shop in ‘Buffy’. But it’s Fairuza Balk who steals the show as the one that ‘wants to play’ showing little remorse for her actions. Well acted, nice filming, a good soundtrack, a credible ‘fantasy’ story and some good effects, this really picks up the ‘dark-side’ in the final third.
The single disc offers play, scene selection, subtitles [English, German, French, Dutch, Arabic, Czech, Danish], special features [trailer, featurette, deleted scenes, directors commentary, talent profiles] and Languages & audio set-up [English, French, German, Isolated Music soundtrack]. Rated 15, this has swearing, scenes of attempted suicide, self harm, verbal abuse, domestic strife, attempted rape and general sense of trauma in some scenes. The moral is simple, be careful what you wish for and beware the consequences.

Classic Cult Teen Horror
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 June 2016Verified Purchase
Ok, I've probably given this 4 stars for nostalgic purposes as I saw this a few times some years back and loved it and despite looking a bit dated, The Craft is still a fun, dark teen horror.
A circle of witches take on a newcomer when pretty Robin Tunney arrives in school and immediately appears to have magical powers. Problem is, the power soon goes to the witches heads and they start creating havoc in and out of school.
A message about how to treat others and not to let power go to your head lurks in there somewhere but overall The Craft is a quirky, darkly comical and offbeat teen horror that deserves it's cult status.
Had a feeling they'd remake it eventually...

Craft a great film for All Hallows Eve
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 October 2020Verified Purchase
Great acting performances from actors who went on to bigger roles. Wanting power and how it can change someone is basically this story, great effects, teenagers, that don't fit in perhaps really wishing they did. Witchcraft with attitude this has edge and i will watch every several years i really rate this film

Good Girls Gone Bad
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 October 2012Verified Purchase
The craft is a movie about a young girl who moves to a new area and a new school. She has gifts that she never even knew she had and not long after coming here they get stronger . After beginning a new school she meets up with three girls in the school, these three are outcasts and have reputations and are often given a hard time by the other kids at their school. When our main female character joins their group she soon learns their interest in magic and it does not take long for them to convince her to join them.nancy is leader of the group and her interests are almost foremost in her mind and actions. There is a pretty good storyline and great sound track, some cute guys and bonding teenage female friendship. Would make a great gift for most teenage girls.
