I'm gonna need that next book, like now! (please)
After the horrific kidnapping in book #1, Bailey is feeling more vulnerable than ever and suffers with PTSD at times. With the help of Kash, her family and friends at her new school, she's trying to get on with her life. Except it doesn't help that someone out there is constantly trying to sabotage their lives. She is still the genius hacker with a photographic memory. Since Kash came into her life, I feel asthough she has more spunk, fire and confidence and will do anything for her man.
Kash is so alpha and in control. His love for Bailey is deepening along with his need to protect and keep her safe. With his grandfather knowing that Bailey is his weak spot, he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe and sound. Someone out there is intent on seeing them fall and fail. Is it only his grandfather he needs to worry about or are there other players in the mix now?
I absolutely love Kash and Bailey together. I loved them both in The Insiders but their relationship in this book has magnified, blossomed a thousand times and is way more intense. We see these two reaching so far into the other's soul to the point where they become one. Their love knows no bounds and it truly shows in this story.
The Damaged is a thrilling story full of suspense, mystery, and twists and turns you never expected. The love and chemistry between Kash and Bailey is absolute fire and while I have enjoyed books 1 and 2 in this trilogy, I feel as though their relationship is about to be tested when book 3 comes around and I am totally on board for that ride.
I thought about waiting for the final book to be released but I couldn’t help myself . Now the wait will feel so long !!!!
Ok good things about this book - Bailey is growing , though she’s still holding a lot back ! She’s broken but I have a feeling we are going to see her fight back in a big way in book 3 - kash has almost treated her too gently … but she’s a HAYES ! (Ok so this totally my hope ! I really hope she doesn’t go the other way and crumble .. I like a string and fierce heroin !! )
Kash …. He’s carrying too much on his own in the name of protecting his family , and I love him for it but I really want them to finish this war as a team ! Like really want that !
and this chase character … he keeps popping up … who he is is still not answered but I have a strong feeling … can not wait to see if I’m right !

I loved the first book in the Insiders series but I was wary about reading this book as usually with trilogies I find the second book to be nothing more than filler. I shouldn’t have worried - Tijan has the ability to create characters that you can’t help but care about. Yes the story is completely OTT but everyone needs a little escapism in their lives and if I wanted reality then I’d read a newspaper. All I know for sure is after that ending, the next book in this series, The Rising, is one of my most anticipated reads of 2022.
I’m not going to ruin the plot for anyone, but I felt their relationship felt flat to me. He is gone, he is back, he is gone (don’t ask questions as not your place) and back again. Oh and gone again. No idea what he is doing, but it’s ‘business’ and we are left with college and clubs and college and club and oh college.
Then the ending seemed incredibly unrealistic, the ‘twists’ just felt a bit too flat. If he is this big scary successful, that ending, just felt dramatic for drama sake. It spiralled from that ‘getaway’ and didn’t land right.
The storyline felt like a filler book and I hate a second book where the only thing happens in the last 3 chapters. The ending seemed like it was there to hook in as a cliff hanger should do. However not sure I’m hooked enough or care enough what happens next…
Bailey has to try & navigate life as a graduate student with people knowing she's Peter's daughter & Kash's girlfriend. If that's not overwhelming enough there's also her trauma still lingering from the two kidnap attempts! Someone close, at school maybe? Is leaking information via her family's loathed blogger stalker.
Bastion makes moves & Kash is severely unsettled because he seems to be targeting Bailey! Can Matt help give Bailey cover or will he just continually mess up? What is Kash up to with Victoria??😳
I'd liked the characters from school, not all, but the added value of them. The character progression for Matt & Peter, in particular, was pretty impressive. They both seemed to have their own separate 'come to jesus' moments about themselves & their own behaviour going forward!👍 This was brutal reading, at times. I really felt for Bailey & her clothing mechanisms.
Oh my word, that ending! Well there was sort of two. The reveal from Bailey, then a new character is brought in we know NOTHING about!😲 They're both *huge* cliffhangery hooks! Roll on book #3, yes I've already pre-ordered it!🌟

Passion, angst, suspense you name it it’s all in this much anticipated story. I loved, loved, loved every minute of it.
Kash is so intense and his character and the relationship he has with Bailey reminded me of how Mason and Sam are in Fallen Crest, so in tune with each other, soulmates… they know how each other is feeling and what they need.
Bailey also has all this trauma and feelings locked inside like Sam, she doesn’t process them or deal, she locks it down.
They are however in their own story, meeting under stained circumstances and trying to battle their way through Quinn’s betrayal and Calhoun’s evil grip on Kash.
This book will have you hooked from the beginning and have you on a 6 hour rollercoaster until the end when it will gain momentum and you will audibly gasp at the destination.
Superb writing from Tijan as always.
Did The Damaged disappoint? No it didn't, far from it! I dove in and couldn't put the book down. Bailey and Kash are so solid. They stand together no matter what.
The absolute evilness of Kash's grandfather and the machinations that went on were so sinister that I actually couldn't begin to guess what he'd do next. That man just wouldn't give up!!!
There are shocks galore, drama aplenty and lots of lovey dovey moments too and all I can say is...Happy Reading To You!!!
