As per usual the storyline keeps you guessing and intrigued. The characters have the effect of making you want to help them and situations keep you on the edge of the seat. Wish the books could be written faster as I'm not patient and want more now.

I really enjoy the DS Jack Mackinnon series so far. The author has a very descriptive style which is very natural and is easy to read. The chapters are written from the viewpoint of different primary characters in the story, weaving all the different strands together.

As the series has progressed, various details from the central character's lives are developed and from this viewpoint, it is definitely better to read the series from the beginning. However, it would still be a very enjoyable read of you hadn't read any of the others.

This is a book that I read very quickly, which is a sure sign that it was a good read. The plot is well constructed and although you may be able to work out or guess some of the direction of the story, there are still tense climatic moments throughout.

Recommend this to anyone who likes crime thrillers.

This is the sixth book in the DS Jack Mackinnon series by author D.S Butler. I really enjoy the Karen Hart series by the same author but to be honest it has taken me awhile to really get into this series. Now six books in I really enjoy the lead character Jack Mackinnon and the series in general. A good solid police procedural with good characters and interesting plots.

Two murders with no obvious connections other than the bloated disfigured remains. The victims a top literary agent and a personal trainer and Detective Sergeant Mackinnon must find the connection and stop the killer before they strike again.

Most bizarrely printed book

Working my way through this series by DS Butler, however this book is the most bizarrely printed book I have ever received. The book is printed so that you have to work from the back forwards, the cover is normal, and the normal end pages introducing one to the next book are upside down at the front. Reading this book therefore takes some getting used to, and reduces the enjoyment of the book.

Another great read in this series, I've said this before but I'll say it again, each one just gets better & better.
Fantastic pace & style of writing, I know from an opening paragraph of a book whether I'm going to enjoy it or not, & D.S. Butler is one of those writers that has the ability to capture my attention straight away. A great eye for detail, & I have to say a very well researched idea in this book, unless of course she keeps snakes. As always great familiar characters, with a bit of their personal life thrown in.
I've also said this before, I'd like to see these books in a TV series.
Can't wait for the next one.
