One of my all time favourite seasons! Excellent episodes and stories and a fantastic start to the amazing 5th Doctor played by Peter Davison. Love the standard packaging, however I had to repurchase this as the plastic DVD case was broken in transit - however refunds and returns are quick and easy with Amazon!

This Boxset is preferable to the limited editon versions due to size and simplicity, not being as fragile as the limited sets, all the content is same on the discs so unless You already own this season I would recommend picking this up instead. my copy came slightly creased but I blame that on postage and not the product.

I'm glad to actually have this as I could never afford the silly prices re-sellers are charging. But... I don't see why they couldn't have just done another run on the special edition boxed version, like they did for the Tom Baker one. I mean, those of us who missed it the first time, would have glady bought it. Instead we get this, sort of budget version (for the same price!) which is in a smaller box. A narrower box wouldn't bother me so much, but it's a couple of centimeters shorter in hight, and every time I look at it on the shelf amidst the special edition sets, it's rather bothersome. Yes, bothersome.

I've just pre-ordered the series 10 reissue, though I'm unsure if I can tolerate further size inconsistencies. Oh, the horror!!!!!

This blu-ray is the 5th doctor Peter Davison first season restored and upgraded to blu-ray with plenty of new extra features to enjoy and a great watch if you enjoyed this Tardis team with Nyssa, Tegan and Adric. A reasonable price for 7 stories and all the extra features.
The 1980s was not the best time for Doctor Who. This is one of the better 80s seasons but the stories are still a bit of a mixed bag.
In my opinion the best stories here are Castrovalva - a great regeneration story, The Visitation, Black Orchid and Earthshock is a fantastic Cybermen story.
Kinda is a very different story with lots of different opinions by the fans!
The worst are Four to doomsday - a bit slow and boring but interesting idea - and Time Flight starts well but falls away about halfway through

Whats happend to the packaging. Gone is all the special edition stuff and we are left with a bog standard plastic case which will not match the other blu ray box sets on the shelf. Also the booklet has been reduced to a pamphlet with only the running order information. I notice though that the price has not been reduced even though the quality of the product has.

A great season with several great stories, the best of them being 'Earthshock'. I much prefer the standard packaging of the Blu-ray re-release compared to the original bulky cardboard releases, where the inner disc trays are awkward to open and can even come away from the card! Season 19 is well worth purchasing on Blu-ray. Very good stories (apart from maybe 'Time-Flight') and great extra's too. 9/10
