I expected a dorky Dora movie and what we got was an adventure movie for the whole family with some memorable funny parts too. I highly recommend this movie. We’ve watched it over and over and still not tired of it.

DORA'S ADVENTURE - A DELIGHT
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2019Verified Purchase
A delightful family-movie that youngsters (5/6 upwards I suggest) will love.
The story tells of how a 6-year-old Dora living in the Peruvian Jungle with her parents learns of her father's life-long quest to find the hidden and legendary Inca city of Gold Parapata.
10 years pass Dora (Isabela Merced) is sent to live with her aunt and uncle along with her beloved cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg) who she'd had many adventures with as a child in the jungle, while her parents who think they have deciphered the location of the lost city, go in search of it.
Dora, who had learnt all she knew from her parents attends school for the first time, she tries to be friendly with all but is looked upon as strange by many.
She keeps in touch with her exploring parents until one day they no longer answer.
There are of course bad-guys in the tale, who, believing that Dora can help them find the gold for themselves kidnap the young teen along with her cousin Diego and two other school friends Randy (Nicholas Coombe) and Sammy (Madeliene Madden) but with a man claiming to be a friend Alejandro (Eugenio Derbez) escape into the jungle where they'd been taken.
With the bad guys on their trail the search for Dora's parents and the lost city of gold swings into action.
Will Dora find her parents and unlock the mystery of Parapata?
With adventure and humour a-plenty coupled with a computer-animated and very clever monkey along with a devious fox, coupled with a little animation as seen in the cartoon adventures of Dora, it's a movie that kids especially will love.

Better Than I thought.

Well this was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Having had children that watched that awful cartoon when they were younger, I was not looking forward to viewing this. This live action was a good watch, funny with a few references back to the cartoons. Adults and teenagerish children enjoyed it

Good for a 7-9yo
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 September 2020Verified Purchase
This is a very sweet film, that nicely fits the gap between animated and real-life kids films. Our 9yo finds it slightly 'lame' but is still happy to watch it from time to time. It's very formulaic and some of the kids' acting is surprisingly poor but overall it's enjoyable. More of a girls' film and probably not for anyone over the age of 10.

Great stuff.

Great fun. Loved watching this film. Technically aimed at a younger audience but ignore that. It will take you out of the dreary world, be it for a short time. Excellent extras. RJC.

a kids movie that millennials can also enjoy

this movie doesn't take itself too seriously and that's why it's good - if you just go in with an open mindset i think you'll enjoy this movie unless you're a child in which case you'll probably enjoy it no matter what
