This is a retelling of the Dracula legend, with Vlad III being the prince in 1462, initially happy in his rule with his wife and young son. But war with Turkey is on the horizon forcing Vlad to make a decision affecting them all.
A fairly impressive effort is on display here, with very good production values and some good digital special effects on display. The main failing is how the film seems to be rushed in the last third, leaving plot holes and pushing far too hard (and sometimes failing) to get ideas completed, making a bit of a mess along the way. The film really needed to be longer than the 92 minutes of the final cut.
The film looks and sounds great on Blu-ray. The picture is very clear and detailed even though most of it is set in dim or dark locations. The lossless audio is clear with excellent prioritisation of the effects (arrow shots etc) and potent bass.
