Charles Bowyer
5.0 out of 5 starsIntriguing to the End.
Reviewed in Australia on 12 April 2021
As a lawyer I am often fatigued from authors who focus on jury trials but I found the combination of CIA venality and its propensity to save face at any cost and to sacrifice Agents ( past & present) under the pretext of national security simply fascinating.

I enjoyed this book right up to the last page and word.

2.0 out of 5 starsToo complicated and tedious
Reviewed in Australia on 23 August 2019
A novel of two halves... the first never believable and the second too drawn out and complex. In general not engaged by the characters or the storyline. Some of the Moscow interlude was quite thrilling but then it dwindled to a rather tedious legal drama. Disappointing as I enjoyed reading his other novels.

1.0 out of 5 stars Going to just read the book - the "performance" is pretty bad.

This isn't a narration - its a "performance."
It's a bad performance.
Won't be buying another one with this "performer" that's for sure.
PS. Book seems okay though

I found it very slow to begin with. The main body of the story was very interesting but the ending predictable.

Part A was very exciting but Part B, the court case, was boring and too long winded !

Convoluted. Takes too long to get to the point, if there was a point.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK

It took me a while to feel any connection to the hero Charles Jenkins. However the plot was intriguing and I enjoyed the main Russian character. The court case a bit far fetched but clever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starts with promise but then......
Reviewed in Australia on 4 February 2021
The premise was good. The initial action was engrossing. But then it sort of just withered away to a much to short court case and an insipid ending.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful ..... don't waste your money

I managed my way through a third of this garbage, before I saw sense and exited purgatory. I cannot believe any person of even limited intelligence could rate this offering worthy of praise, it is truly awful. Unbelievable plot, cliched in the extreme, and a seven year old's version of good versus bad. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
