Feels cheaply made & the tape isn't real smooth. Seemed to work accurately, but get a bit of sand in the handle & it won't slide very well. Only got to use it a few times, before a freak wave washed over it & that is how it died. Going to look for a more robust waterproof (& hopefully) sandproof model for my next purchase.

Update 2/5/2020: Customer Service contacted me about my review and offered to replace or refund me. I think that is excellent customer service and appreciate it. I am using a different solution so I opted for a refund.

Bought this to take constant measurements of a tank that I am filling. It stops measuring after a couple of seconds and does not work for that purpose. You need to put the whole weight on at once, otherwise it just locks in the weight after a few seconds. The other issue is the backlight does not stay on long enough. Directions are written in poor Chinese English and are hard to follow.

Uncomfortable to hold, useless for large fish

It's ok for small things, not very accurate but you get the ballpark idea. For large fish or objects it's useless. Hook is flat and small, doesn't hold up very well. Trying to lift anything over 20 lbs is incredibly uncomfortable since the meter is very small and there is no additional grip space without blocking screen. The metal handle is a joke, only a child could fit their hand through that tiny slit.

Purchased Jan 15th, 2018. It did work for a while, and seemed accurate. It's dead now. It may have been dead for months now, because I don't regularly use it. It wasn't damaged or immersed. I changed the batteries and cleaned the contacts. Still dead.

Cheap import electronic device.

EDIT:. The seller shipped a new scale free of charge. I wasn't expecting to receive a replacement, but was pleasantly surprised. This is more of a testament to the seller than the actual product.

I bought this and used it for two weeks. After two weeks the digital numbers were glitchy. The numbers would end up changing so we could not tell what the fish actually weighed. We bought a similar device near the campground we were at and tested the one I bought on Amazon. Turns out the one I bought was off by way more than we originally thought. Plus this device is rather flimsy and feels like it would break easy without handling it correctly.

I really bought it for the tape measure aspect and the tape measure is very hard to get out of the case. I have tried numerous times and will now not bother and just throw a tape measure in my fishing box instead. The case it well made but I am not sure the designer really thought thru the use of such a small tape measure and how it is delivered. The hook weighing aspect is what I expected though so not all is lost on the product.

I liked the scale. It is simple to use, has different weight and light settings. Only thing I could not figure out was how to set it so it retains the max weight reading for a particular fish. I wanted to use the scale for setting my drags on my reels, but it does not seem to tell me what the max reading was. That information is critical to setting drags properly to fight fish. Set it too tight and you will lose your fish. Set it too loose and you will increase your chances of losing the fish from fighting it too long.

Batteries are always dead

I like the scale itself, its small and compact and works fine. However, it feels like every time I pull this thing out, the batteries are dead. It seemingly drains the battery when not even on. I have to swap in new batteries almost every time I go on a fishing trip. I usually don't even get to use it because it's dead when I pull it out of my bag.
