I am 67 years old and after reading this book when I was very young I read it to my two children in the 1980s. This version has been bought for me to read to my grandchildren and looking forward to starting next week. Worth paying the extra money for the colourful illustrations.

The book is not as advertised, it doesn't match the picture and is a much later edition in which the children's names have been changed

Review from a 6 year old
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 April 2014Verified Purchase
I bought his for my 6 year old who has started devouring books herself and reading well without adult help. This was a great first book to start on.
I asked her for a rating and she gave 4, stating that it was imaginative and very fun to read, but could have done with more characters - which the subsequent books provided.
From a parents point of view these books are timeless. They provide a good language for new readers to get to grips with and support a fertile imagination so the books take on a life of their own as my children have taken the stories out into our garden, local woods and the school playground.
