Huge fun!

I loved this life affirming film with a wonderful cast. I saw it in the cinema and thought it hugely enjoyable, funny and poignant. It was a "must-have" for my DVD collection. Several reviews here mention an age demographic... well, I'm not 60 yet, but I think a life affirming film is great however old you are!

Wonderful cast, it would be difficult to imagine how any project with this line up could fail and it doesn't. It delivers in spades !! I laughed, cried, wiggled my hips, cried all over again, and ended up with a big smile on my face. Just a glorious movie.

What the English do best - great character acting, snappy dialogue and strong plot!

Not a weak point to be found! Directing of the exceptionally strong cast is tight and allows each character to develop providing a clever interweaving of stories making a powerfully memorable whole.

Really poor
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2018Verified Purchase
With such a stellar cast one would be forgiven for expecting a top film. However, the story line is thin, the characters are stereotypical (why does the bad guy have to be an up-tight Welshman?), and the twists and turns are entirely predictable. The dialogue leaves little chance for most of the big names to show how good they are. Poignant moments are glossed over, so that there is no contrast between humour and sadness. Really poor. Don't be tempted by the reviews that just want to sell you the film.
