Daughter loves the fairy tail anime series so thought I’d buy the first book for her. She read it within 30 mins as comic book so easy to read. Great for a teenager who hates reading!

Great Start to a Great Series!

Fairy Tail volume 1 contains the first four chapters: The Fairy Tail, The Master Appears, Fire Dragons and Monkeys and Cows, The Celestial Spirit of Canis Minor.
Story Intro: Lucy is a 17 year old girl who wants nothing more than to join Fairy Tail a magical guild full of powerful wizards. She bumps into this guy called Natsu accompanied by his best friend Happy who is a cat. Then she finds herself in trouble but Natsu & Happy both turn out to be wizards from Fairy Tail. Natsu himself is a dragon slayer (raised by a dragon). After Natsu saves Lucy from trouble Natsu takes her to Fairy Tail which she joins. And the adventure begins...
After watching the anime which I found so enjoyable I decided to get the manga. After reading it I have to say it's better in the manga. For me the manga has more in it with the stories, action, comedy things that the anime doesn't have. With the first volume you get some extras such as 'Happy Job' a short comedy story, 'Natsu's Design' and the 'Afterword' page where the author talks about stories behind stuff etc and the 'Translation Notes' where they talk about the translation process and the differences with the Japanese translation.

Fairy Tail the beginning!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 August 2011Verified Purchase
Having watched a few episode of the anime series decided to pick this up and boy did I love it!
It expands on the anime by including explanations for bits they left out of the episode and expands on some bits that explained what was going on alot better!
If you fancy having access to effectively a couple of episode of the anime series in graphic book format I heartily recommend picking this up, you won't regret it!
