3.0 out of 5 stars Review of the Standard Bu-ray case and extras
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2019
I imagine that if you're here it's because you've see the show and liked it enough to buy it. So instead of talking about the show I'll talk about the Standard Edition Blu-ray case and extras for both parts 1 and 2.
Both parts come in a thick Blu-ray case, about twice the size of a normal case, and holds four discs. Each disc consist of between 2 and 4 episodes. This, I think, is a huge waste of space because most series (Including the previous Fate entry released by Aniplex, Fate/Zero) have each part come in two discs each holding about 6-8 episodes. Why they decided to use twice as many discs as well as a thick four disc case (Instead of a regular size four disc case) I don’t know.
Part 1 cost £35 and consists of the following content:
Part 1, disc 1 – Only holds episodes 0 & 1
Part 1, disc 2 – Only holds episodes 2, 3, 4 & 5
Part 1, disc 3 – Only holds episodes 6, 7, 8, & 9
Part 1, disc 4 – Holds episodes 10, 11, & 12. It also comes with clean version of the opening and closing as well as trailers for both this show and others that were coming out at the time.
Part two is also £35 and consists of:
Part 2, disc 1 – Only holds episodes 13, 14, 15 & 16
Part 2, disc 2 – Only holds episodes 17, 18, 19 & 20
Part 2, disc 3 – Only holds episodes 21, 22 & 23
Part 2, disc 4 – Holds episodes 24, 25 and a bonus OVA (which is only 10 mins long and acts as an alternative ending then episode 25). Just like part 1 it comes with a clean version of the opening and closing as well as trailers for the show.
Overall, even though I really like the show, I think it’s over priced (£70 for the entire series) for what it offers. It is designed to waste storage space and comes with next to no extras. So unless you are determined to have the highest quality image possible I would recommend getting the DVD rather than the Blu-ray and save some money.
