"The Flash" is a super-hero, action-adventure TV series - based on the DC Comics character. The titular character first appeared in print in January 1940, and represents one of DC's longest running superhero titles (alongside the likes of 'Batman', 'Superman' and 'Wonder Woman'). This TV series is a contemporary contribution to the fiction, set in the present-day. And 'Flash' is the heroic name and secret identity given to Barry Allen, a young forensic scientist who's hit by a mysterious wave of electrical energy ... henceforth allowing his body to move as fantastic speeds.
This series is set within the wider universe established in "The Arrow" (see
Arrow - Season 1-3 [Blu-ray] [2015] [Region Free
]), featuring another main DC Comics hero: Green Arrow. There are several cross-over episodes, as well as further spin-off show:
DC Legends of Tomorrow - Season 1 [Blu-ray] [2016] [Region Free
]. Additionally, "The Flash" also links with
Supergirl - Season 1 [Blu-ray] [2016] [Region Free
].
This TV series consists of 23 episodes, and - while each episode can be enjoyed in and of themselves - there is an ongoing story-arc ... which continues in the second season. If you've watched "Arrow" and enjoyed it, then I highly recommend this show. However, "The Flash" will appeal to audiences unfamiliar with "Arrow" ... it's lighter in tone, and somewhat more 'family friendly'. For any DC fan, this is worth watching.

Wasn’t really expecting much of this but I was very surprised at just how good it is.great story and special effects and mostly accurate to the graphic novels which is rare.a lot of characters have an appearance too and it’s only the first series So I’m really looking forward to starting season 2 to see how it unfolds.well worth the money at this price

I find the extended DC Universe on TV (The Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl) more enjoyable than their Batman and Superman film franchises. From the movie reviews, I guess I might not be alone :-)
I like that there is interaction between the characters of different TV series, such as The Arrow and his crew guest starring on episodes of The Flash, or The Flash accidentally visiting the parallel Earth in which Supergirl exists. Who's faster? I won't tell...
I watched most of the episodes of seasons 1 & 2 of The Flash on TV, but missed a few, so I decided to get the Blu-rays and binge watch the entire series. It's great.
I find it a bit perplexing that Grant Gustin, who plays the The Flash in the TV series hasn't appeared in the DC films, but who knows, maybe there are contractual or scheduling issues. Batman has been rebooted so many times, with so many different actors, that I suppose the movie production exists in its own parallel universe, but DC could benefit from loosely tying the TV series and movies together, the way that Marvel does.
There is one thing that I can find fault with, and it's not the story-line or the Blu-ray packaging -- it's the illogical pricing. At the time of writing, the Blu-ray box set The Flash Seasons 1 & 2 is about 10% cheaper than the Blu-ray for just Season 2. If you already have the Blu-ray for Season 1, what are you supposed to do? Pay *more* for Season 2? Or buy the cheaper Seasons 1 & 2 and throw Season 1 in the trash? Not very environmentally friendly, and completely illogical.

Fantastic revamp of the flash super hero legend, with a very strong supporting cast.
It was great to see John Wesley Shipp staring as the new "Barry's Dad" nice touch. JWS was the star of the original 89-90 Flash series. He's seen again in Series 2 as a proper tribute. One other member of original series too, did you spot her?
Totally worthwhile, and if this leaves you breathless you'll need oxygen for series two ✌

The first season over all was fantastic and probably the best so far!!! Awesome special effects and excellent story lines. Each episode really keeps you thinking and guessing what will happen next!!! The reverse Flash by far is the best villain Flash has encountered in which it seems, he never really can outsmart!!! Always ahead of the real Flash!!! The first season truly is a gem!!! Full of excitement!!! Awesome stuff!!!
