I need a bigger house for the box.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2019Verified Purchase
After a search party I found the product of my order, the complete series of GoT.
I have been walking around for several hours inside this ginormous box, luckily I brought some crackers, a bottle of water, a portable gas stove and of course a Pot Noodle (Chicken & Mushroom yeah!)
Seriously, what's with this box?

Check your discs!!

Trying to work my way through this brilliant series and have found a fault with one disc so far, Season 2 Episode 10 doesn't play! This really isn't good enough for something costing £120, where's the quality control? This will be going back but who's to say that the next one won't be the same. Do we really need to watch this through multiple times to find problems with the discs before our 30 day warranty expires??

Unfortunately Season 8 destroys this Magnificent Box Set
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2020Verified Purchase
Spoiler Alert!
This is the first time I have watched this show, and up until season 8, the series has been brilliant, but under the guardianship of the Directors to continue the story without the author’s final book, it fizzled from episode 1 of season 8!
From the outset of this season the show lost its dynamic impact, the battle scenes were not as breathtaking and sharp as the battle scenes before them, and the script lost its edge...it felt like the Directors were rushing to offload and move on elsewhere!
After a major build-up, the Night King was a bit of an anti-climax and the Dothraki, Lannisters, hidden Targaryens, and various schemers all of it came to nothing, and finally to make matters worse Jon’s character was diminished, ALL this and more under the penmanship of the Directors!
Season 8 damages the entire box set series, the Directors should hang their heads in shame! The story deteriorates badly in season 8 which is reflected in the loss of yet another dragon by literally the same means, surely after the death of the first dragon, Daenerys would have taken necessary steps to protect the vulnerable areas of her remaining children! The Jaime and Brienne story arc fizzles as Jaime boringly rushes back to his sister! No shock twist and turns that Jaime would choose Brienne over his sister!
The story at one point after Kings Landing is destroyed then steers into a republicans dream of the idea that the survivors should choose a leader! Bran is ultimately plonked on the throne, and Jon the rightful heir to the throne is banished for killing a madwoman to what is now defunct wall and beyond, after all the Night King is dead and the conflict with the wildlings is over! When the mad King was killed Jamie Lannister wasn’t banished to the wall, so why was Jon banished by his own cousin, Daenerys actions were far worse than her father’s! The Directors story board was not thought out and rushed!
Season 8 was like a bad dream! I hope the author’s final book whenever it comes out is as far away as possible from the Directors version! I also hope the author brings in a dragon(s) for Jon into the story arc. Maybe once the final book is released HBO will do a final season that befits this show. Because of season 8 this box set only deserves one star!

This is how to watch GOT.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 January 2021Verified Purchase
This is a review of the 4K box set, the TV series reviews are well documented and personally I liked the last series, a bit rushed, the ending wasn’t great, not very game of thrones like, bit too happy endings but hey. The other 72 episodes were great TV.
So the 4K discs, wow! This is how to watch game of thrones, crisp, perfect transfer and the Atmos soundtrack is full on. For those that complained about series 8 being too dark and you could hardly see what was happening, watch the 4K transfer on an HDR tv and it truly transforms the picture.
Now the price may put you off, it’s a lot of money but if it ever goes on sale, I would say grab it, watch it all again and enjoy the spectacle in all its glory.

One of the great tv shows
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2020Verified Purchase
Game of thrones has to be up there with the greatest tv shows ever made. The story and special effects are second to none. I know that the ending split opinion but anything this complex and popular will do. I was happy with the ending, sure there were a few things I would have liked to have seen different but then that’s down to personal opinion. It does not deserve the harsh criticism some people gave it. If you’ve not seen it I recommend you watch it and make up your own mind. I for one am glad I have the entire collection to watch again and again
