Product description

Anyone who says there's nothing to fear has never lived here. Ann, a young, inexperienced governess, looks after two young orphans in a seemingly quaint country home. But brother and sister, Miles and Flora, carry secrets. Soon, the home is filled with supernatural apparitions. In a haunting tale of suspense and murder, the ghosts relentlessly pursue those who believe in them -- and curse those who do not. Based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, one of literature's most gripping ghost stories, comes this sinister tale of unspoken horror and psychological terrors starring Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Sue Johnston (Downton Abbey, Waking the Dead), and Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Sense & Sensibility).

3.0 out of 5 stars Gratuitous and unremarkable adaption.
Reviewed in the United States on 27 January 2020
An adaption of Henry James's "Turn of the Screw" in which characters and incidents are completely taken out of context or fabricated from the novella.
Quint, which is often done in adaptions, is characterized as an evil rapist. In the novella James simply describes him as taking "libertys". Simply put, the other staff of the estate were simply irritated by the fact that Quint, as a friend of the uncle, took advantage of the fact to take advantage and take charge. The other staff resented it because Quint was nothing more than a peasant himself and a lowly valet.
James himself when he categorized his writings to be published as a set placed "The Turn of the Screw" with the other works of psychological suspense and not with the ghost stories. There never were any ghosts. Prior to the death of Miles, the governess herself described herself in the novella as "judge and executioner". Explaining all you need to know.
As an aside from the adaption ? 2.5 STARS FIRM.
