The giraffe the pelly and me is a interesting book, however the plot isn't set up very well and a bad conclusion

This book is said to be written by the WORLD'S NUMBER 1 storyteller (I agree; I swear it's true). It's about a boy(I can't tell you the name), who lives near a tall building called the Grubber, which means sweet shop, and when one day a giraffe, a pelican and a monkey move in…

i love this book because of its english theme and the thought of a ladderless window cleaning company. The pichers i like and the basic storybord is awesome.

Glorious Book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 October 2020Verified Purchase
I bought this lovely illustrated version of The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me for a 5 year old grandchild. We know the story well because of the wonderful recorded version staring Hugh Laurie. We play this often in the car and it delights small passengers and me. I wanted a book for this grandchild whose reading is coming on in leaps and bounds. She enjoys it very much. All my grandchildren are Dahl fans and I’m guessing we know all his books for children. They all have a favourite. I like this one particularly with its Quentin Blake illustrations and would recommend it wholeheartedly. It has that slight madness that small children accept immediately (a giraffe, a pelican and a monkey setting up a window cleaning business), eccentricity (the richest man in the whole of England), a bit of morality (the burglars getting caught) and a happy ending. Glorious stuff!

Great classic story

Great classic story, my son isn't a fiction book fan but this one he actually liked. It wasn't too long and had interesting characters, the story is packed with things little boys like, for example sweets, a robbery, a gun. Really good story to start on as it seems to have sparked a real interest in Roald Dahl for my son (thankfully as I don't feel I can continue reading books about cement, jet planes, tractors etc without loosing my mind). Excellent value for money.

Love the story but book was quite worn

Love this story and the kids will love it too. Book was used but marked as in good condition. Would say the condition was average. Love the story though and the bigger colour edition is much easier for the kids to see.

The Giraffe, Pelican and Monkey
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2015Verified Purchase
This book is about a window cleaning company operated by a Giraffe, a Pelican and a Monkey from a shop called the Grubber (former sweet shop). When they are given an assignment to clean the Duke of Hampshire's windows from his country estate little do they know what adventures they will encounter.
Absolutely loved this book. Where did Roald Dahl get his imagination from? The man was a genius

Great story for the little ones with just enough pictures to keep them focused. My 4 year old is hooked with Roald Dahl and Q. Blake 😊
