"You want to make your life easier? Then be the caged bird that you are and sing."
For ten years, I've lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas's golden castle. But one night changed everything.
Now I'm here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom's army, and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it out of this in one piece. They're marching to battle, and I'm the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.
At the heart of my fear, my worry, there's him-Commander Rip.
Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is.
Fae.
The betrayers. The murderers. The ones who nearly destroyed Orea, wiping out Seventh Kingdom in the process. Rip has power sizzling beneath this skin and glinting spikes down his spine. But his eyes-his eyes are the most compelling of all.
When he turns those black eyes on me, I feel captive for an entirely different reason. I may be out of my cage, but I'm not free, not even close.
In the game of kings and armies, I'm the gilded pawn. The question is, can I out maneuver them?
This is the captivating second book of The Plated Prisoner series. It's an adult epic fantasy story blending romance, intrigue, and beautiful imagery. Return to the seductive story of magic inspired by the myth of King Midas, and get caught up in the world of Orea.
Please note: There is explicit language and romance in this book, not suitable for those under the age of 18.

I loved Auren’s journey in this book. I got major ACOTAR & FBAA vibes from this book & I am all for it! Seeing Auren stand up for herself & figure out who she is and what Midas has done to her these past 10 years was SO GOOD!
Commander Rip is dreamy. I love his dark & brooding nature and how he baits Auren constantly to make her better herself.
His Wrath are such a great group of side characters & I cannot wait to see the relationship grow with them. Again, serious ACOTAR vibes there and it was done so well.
Getting chapters from other characters in this book was great & I really enjoyed seeing more of Queen Malina, she’s going to be a lot of fun in the next books I feel.
So I thought I guessed the plot twist, then it was oh nope I got that SO wrong but nooo then Raven goes and does it like THAT & I’m trying to figure out wtf just happened!
If you need me I’ll be reading book 3!
If you are looking for a great book, then look no further. Check out the first book, you won’t regret it.
The positives though about Glint is that I feel like the main character, Auren, has gotten way more likeable and there is definitely characters I now like, whereas the first book there was no one at all that was likeable. Also loved the switching of POV’s. Also the ending was great as well, I wouldn’t say it was predicted, but it wasn’t exactly a shock if that makes sense, but still good nevertheless!
Also I’ve said this about Gild, but I genuinely really do like Raven Kennedy’s writing, I just wish there was more plot is all.

I hope book 3 comes out soon because I'm DESPERATE for answers!

The Fourth army keep treating her well though, she even feels like she’s built a sort of camaraderie with some of the soldiers - something she can’t claim about the other royal saddles. No matter how much she tries to help or befriend them, they have nothing but hatred and contempt for her.
And then there’s Rip. He constantly makes her question her life with Midas, and underneath it all makes her feel something for him that she’s not ready to acknowledge.
Will King Ravinger give her back to Midas? Or will he start a war starring Auren as collateral damage?
I was so torn over my feelings for Auren in this one! She is so so soooo naive, to the point that I just wanted to shake her and scream in her face! But in a way I understand it. She’s been with Midas since she was 15. She doesn’t know any different and he is the first person that was kind to her. That looked after her.
We get a few chapters from Queen Malina’s POV and one from Midas’ in this book. At first I sympathised with Malina but honestly she’s just another privileged, entitled, snobby, miserable, manipulative monarch.
I absolutely loved the members of the Fourth that we got to know. Their bond and loyalty was wonderful and unwavering. They treated Auren like an equal, not a prisoner, even tried to help her and train her.
I did guess Auren’s big secret but I did NOT see the twist at the end coming!
Book 3, here I come!

A brilliant story of a timid soul finding her strength and breaking her gilded cage. A vivid story and world building, but twisty. Unable to truly discern enemy from frenemy from friend. Story moved seamlessly from character to character, from chapter to chapter angst and plot twists keeps building. The book ensnares you and keeps you captive. And I am rushing to read book 3 as it leaves you right on the cusp. Thank goodness book 3 is available. Here's to finding it as alluring and captivative.
Book 4 better hurry up
