So aside from price... which is not cheap. This product excellent and blows away average families desires for light. First ultra light weight. Most battery lanterns are VERY HEAVY. 2nd the most versatile feature 180° lighting. There is nothing worse than being blinding by lantern just to enjoy family time. The battery life is perfect with a crank for emergencies. The ability to charge a phone is a very welcome feature though lackluster. Overall amazing investment. Small form factor. Lightweight. Tons of emergency use. Buy with confidence
I like the brightness level showing 4 blue light indicators turning the knob left (half or 180 degree) and turning the knob right (full or 360 degree light coverage). It is a light weight lantern which can be charged with the attached USB cable, also by cranking the lever on the top during emergency. I still need to test charge it with the Nomad 10 solar panel (bought separately). It has a USB outlet for charging a cell phone and smart watch. I like the design of this lantern. This is my first 'Goal Zero' purchased.
Can easily carry it with me and set it wherever is handy to light up the particular area I’m working in as I go through things in my storage unit. I’m only in there for 3 hours to 1/2 day - so the battery life is no problem. Could be a little brighter, but it works for the specific area I’m working in. I could turn up the brightness, but then I would drain the battery. Extremely light weight and user friendly. Very durable too.
I still have my old Rayovac Essentials lantern. But, let's be honest. When you need it, the batteries will be dead and possibly corroding the battery posts. As an emergency lantern, it goes several years in between usage. This Goal Zero lantern is twice as bright, 1/2 as heavy and uses Lion batteries. Topping it all off, you can charge it with its built in crank.
I live in Florida and we need light during hurricanes when the power goes out. It is bright but not blinding. You can turn up to high or lower the light. It is very easy to turn the handle if you need to and you get a lot of energy. You can hang it up, walk with it, or let it sit flat, or with the stand. It’s small, but powerful!
Goal Zero have made a awesome and super bright lantern. It is everything a prepper would like. Besides, being very dim to super bright, it has a manual crank to power up the light. The external USB works awesome to charge up my phone. Totally recommend it.
Great light for camping. The top can be used to crank charge the light, which is an added bonus for cloudy days when the solar charger won't work as well. It has a battery indicator, emergency mode (blinking red lights), and can be lit for 180° of light coverage or 360°.
It's very lightweight for the amount of light it gives off. Getting to a full charge does take a while, but even on full light the charge will last plenty long.
I have been thoroughly impressed by the two goal zero lanterns that I have. This one provides excellent light, even at the half light setting. I love the analog dial, that allows you to get the exact brightness you want. The hand crank is a very nice backup function.
This little light is amazing! While the applications while camping are obvious the real surprise was how many times we've used this at home. Power outages are common during Thunderstorms and this little light can really light up a room. We keep this handy all the time - just in case!
