This little lantern is exactly what we needed for our camping trips and to have around the house as an emergency light. First and foremost, this lantern is extremely bright. It’s much brighter than I expected for the size of the lantern. One of our favorite features is the 360 and 180 degree light options. The 180 degree light setting just illuminates one side of the lantern, which is perfect when you don’t want the light to be too bright and harsh. The light is dimmable in both settings although it seems to dim more to a lower brightness in the 360 degree mode compared to the 180 degree mode. The manual crank works as described and is a nice feature that gives you the ability to generate some light even when the battery is dead. The usb charging feature is a nice touch in emergency scenarios. The lantern has a red emergency light ring at the top but it isn’t too bright. Overall, this is a great camping and emergency light that is extremely bright and has several nice and useful features.
I know what you’re thinking- pretty expensive for just a lantern. It is WORTH it! I bought our first one 2 years ago for a camping trip. It still works fantastic the same as the day it was purchased. I bought another one when we lost power from an ice storm. I highly recommend. You can charge with the crank or plug into a wall. They are light weight and the light lasts a very long time. Love it!
I think this lamp borders on perfection, except for one detail: the attached USB charging cable. USB cables can be notoriously short-lived, in my experience, especially outdoors. So, what are your options if/when the charging cable fails? I think a standard Micro-USB or USB-C port would have been a better option, since most of us have other cables. Other than that, its brightness, battery life, and emergency crank, made it a pretty good deal to me.
I like this lamp in many ways (adjustable brightness, lighting options, USB charging, hanging). But I can't figure out where to put it. On a table it doesn't brighten anything useful. Higher it blinds me. Some kind of diffusion flexibility would make it much more useful.
