Don’t let that pretty face of his fool you. He isn’t the boy next door, or the kind you trust with your heart. He’s the devil in designer jeans, with all the charm of a bona fide psycho.
Trust me.
He swears I did something to cross him before I even stepped foot inside Cypress Prep, but it’s a lie. No one knows better than me that I’m all out of chances. One more misstep and I can kiss my future goodbye, which means I can’t possibly be guilty of whatever he thinks I’ve done.
West marks me with a target anyway, and as this town’s football star, no one dares to go against him. His money, status, and the loyalty of his equally entitled brothers makes him seem untouchable. Only, I know better than that.
This false god isn’t infallible like he wants the world to believe. Whenever I stare into those devilish green eyes, I see it plain as day. The chink in his armor. His one and only weakness.
Me.
The King of Cypress Prep has finally met his match and taking him down just became an inside job.

The Golden Boys are all smokin’ hot, but there’s only one guy for Blue Riley, which means this romance isn’t a reverse harem. Also, full disclosure, this saga does contain strong bully themes. So, if you’re not into romances where hate turns into love (well … eventually), and if you don’t like your heroes of the unapologetically alpha variety, this might not be the book for you.
There is no rape or dubious consent whatsoever. However, the series does contain adult themes and sexual situations. One-click and get lost in this series today! Smooches! RJ & NT

The Golden Boys by Rachel Jones and Nikki Thorne is a slow burn YA/NA dark high school bully sport romance, is told mostly from duel POVs and is the first book in the Kings of Cypress Prep series.
Wow ! I did not expect this book ! When I stumbled across this book thanks to my Kindle suggestion, I had no idea just how addictive this book would become.
From the very beginning the FMC had me completely hooked, in fact the whole story line did. It was angsty, unique and suspenseful with the right amount of drama and had me constantly guessing what secrets were lurking in the background of the story. Not to mention it’s Gossip Girl vibes with the social media influence on the gossip within and outside of the school.
I also loved the writing style of this author, the way the story developed effortlessly and how easily I not only fell in love with the MC but supporting characters as well - especially Dane and Sterling.
In a nutshell I’m so glad my Kindle suggested this book to me and I look forward to read the rest of the series.
Please note: This book does end on a cliffhanger and contain scenes/topics that some readers may find triggering and/or disturbing.
These authors are new to me and I must say, they killed this! I love the angst, the FMC and how she held her own, the interesting dynamic between the characters and I story as a whole.
Plenty of twists in this book that I didn’t see coming. The profession of the relationship between the characters was interesting. I love how the lines blurred the further in we got and that it felt relatable and organic also. I love a FMC that can hold her own as well as dish it back and seeing Blue not only take it but give West a taste of his own medicine was great.
I can completely relate to Blue and I think that’s what I enjoyed most about the book. There were so many similarities between us that while reading I felt completely engrossed and consumed by the story. The plot is great and set at an easy pace to follow but is also never dull which made for an exciting read.
The narrators did a great job. Their voices suited the characters well and completely sold the story. They made reading this book a whole new experience, their tones easy and smooth to listen to and I look forward to seeing what else they have under their belts. Look forward to diving into book 2.
I’m so excited to read the next book. So much tension and chemistry with the main characters. Read it in a day it was addictive!
But TikTok recommended books has serve me well except this, made me nearly sick in my stomach.
She lives on the south side of town.
Poor, working class, crime and drug dealing is rampant.
Through the foresight of her incarcerated old brother, she
receives a full scholarship to the snooty Cypress Prep.
She know nobody, so all she has to do is lay low, stay off the radar, and the year should be a breeze.
However, unknown to Blue, she is already on somebody’s radar.
We have the boys
West Golden. West is the King of Cypress Prep
Sterling - smart, nerdy, the quieter triplet.
Dane—the vain one with a penchant for selfies—is PrettyBoyD. Collectively, these three are TheGoldenBoys.”
West has called his brothers and friends to arms to make Blue’s life a living hell.
This book has every bully romance clique/trope down
Things West and Blue have in common :
Poor girl with deadbeat parents
Rich guys with dead beat parent.
They hate each other but, destiny has other ideas, as the author constantly, CONSTANTLY, has the two pushed together through circumstance.
Because of their close proximity, and love/hate push-pull relationship, this causes them to form an attraction and start caring for each other.
See. The usual bully/romance scenarios
We also have female leads best friends, who always live vicariously through the main female lead.
You know them, there’re the ones getting excited for parties, and dressing the lead character in trashy outfits for the other bully/romance trope,
The homecoming dance, and the voice of reason (?) . There is always the GF who is the agony aunt in these books.
They also ingratiate themselves into the main leads relationship.
In this book it’s Joss (the girl Dane likes)
Lexi (Cypress Prep Outcast)
And Jules & Scarlett. The most gushy, cringy, desperate to be part of the richies, (and involved in Blues relationship) girls you could come across.
Blue, the main lead is a girl with SERIOUS anger management problems, and a hair trigger.
She can’t have a discussion without her blood boiling, followed by an outburst of some kind, then getting turned on.
She’s probably more like her drunkard father than she thinks.
Honest, Blue and West get pushed together so often (sometimes on purpose) it gets ridiculous.
Hands Up! ...who didn’t see it coming that West would be called on to teach Blue how to swim...groan
Even the Journalising club!... Blue is called on to photograph....wait for it....the FOOTBALL AND...WHO PLAYS FOOTBALL? ....West and his brothers...(shakes head)
So, if you can manage to moved passed all the usual tropes you can see coming a mile off, the rest of the storyline isn’t that bad.
It all starts with West finding a phone in his dads safe.
A phone with a very incriminating photo of a certain girl on it.
West’s father is known to cheat with younger, blonde girls, so ...
Is this girl one of his conquests?
And why does she look so familiar?
There is also the beginnings of an I interested backstory regarding Blue’s older brother Hunter, and her deadbeat mother, that shows promise, and I am looking forward to seeing where that goes.

West Golden is the eldest of triplets. The three brothers rule the school because they’re rich, gorgeous and popular. But, they’ve got problems too. Their dad’s a complete jerk and there’s a secret about West that may ruin his football career before it’s even begun - rich boy problems.
Blue Riley is from the south side of town, trying to improve her life for her and her sister by accepting a scholarship to prep school with the rich kids. She’s trying to finish high school, work to pay bills (because her dad’s a dead beat alcoholic), take care of her sister after their mum abandoned them, oh, and her brother’s a convicted murderer. If that’s not enough for an eighteen year old to have to deal with, from day one at Cypress Prep, West Golden is out to make her life miserable, and she has no idea why.
Bully romances can be hard to stomach but this wasn’t too bad. West made her life more difficult, but I didn’t feel his behaviour was anything that could not be forgiven. He openly states he wants to destroy her and she hates his guts despite the physical attraction. However, I feel the author didn’t convey the emotional and psychological torture at levels I expected from a “dark bully romance”. While there’s plenty of shoves and snide remarks, it’s more like pranks that are instigated by West directly. The bullying does increase in intensity, however, but by that point it’s done by West’s minions without his knowledge.
It was impossible not to get behind Blue because she does not let the bullies win. She’s a fighter and gives as good as she gets. However, I felt more empathy for Blue because of the things she faced in her life away from school, rather than the bullying. Perhaps it’s because the “dark” label was misleading, or am I old and jaded?
The tension of their conflicting feelings for each other builds and builds over the course of the story, but apart from some heavy make out sessions, the love action is reserved for the very end. After all that build up, I would have preferred it to be a bit longer. Then, of course, it all crumbles for Blue again. However, we know Blue is not going to take this lying down so roll on Book 2. Plus, there’s still plenty of questions yet to be answered...

Poor Blue, the girl can’t catch a break, she’s the FMC in this series
She lives on the poor side of town, mum left her and her two siblings with a alcoholic father
Blues brother the eldest is in prison
She has a younger sister Scarlett aka scar
She’s been given a chance a scholarship to attend a better school on the rich side
What she doesn’t know is somebody either herself or somebody like her ex I’m guessing took a pic of her in a naughty screen shot
Which brings us to the Highschool bully aka west who is one of the golden boys, triplets lol
Anyway west is looking for daddies credit card and when he stumbles into daddies safe and finds a mobile phone with blues pic he assumes that daddy dearest is cheating on mummy with blue
This is not the case and we don’t know how daddy has the pic and is the mobile even his
Some secrets going about, it’s frustrating that west hasn’t told his brothers what he’s seen
He doesn’t ask blue but targets her as soon as he sees she’s a new student
The whole book is a tug and war between his feelings towards blue
I don’t like west father, I don’t know what he’s up to but it doesn’t seem good and Blue is innocent in all this
Some things I think west would of found out but I guess this is how the book is going
Bring on book 2
