I really enjoyed this book and it was a real treat to have older characters as a mainstay of the story. The ladies were really fleshed out and I felt that I knew each one of them as I continued through the story. From start to finish it was a delight.
Three interesting seniors on a scenic jaunt. I've driven the routes in this story. It was pleasant to revisit them. Each lady has her secrets, memories and concerns to chew over. Each has to learn how to adjust to the others in their borrowed home. There are many humorous episodes, several scenes to encourage empathy and an on going touch of romantic angst. Some places are described in loving detail, others brushed aside almost. Throughout, the ladies support each other and develop depth to their bonding. Just lacks conviction for me but it is fun with a hint of fairy tale magic and that alone is worth a lot in today's general social climate.
I love Judy Leigh's books so I couldn't wait to read the latest one. I immediately fell in love with soap opera actress Vivienne, who is struggling to cope with a waning career; opera singer Gwen who expresses her loneliness through her wonderful voice; and former nurse Mary who had me in stitches with her hilarious wit. When they decide to take a journey together, the friendship grows even stronger with plenty of drama along the way. Hilarious, poignant, and full of warmth. I savoured every word. Highly recommend.
Lovely read, absorbed in the travels. Different characters who have their own input and value in this book. Not out of my 60s yet but, hope I get to go on adventures as well. As the saying goes ... 'There's life in the old dog yet'
After a hard day of work and all the rubbish that is going on this world, this book brings such a ray of sunshine. Could have read it all in one day, due to the humor , warm characters and beautiful scenery, but I paced it out so I could have a wonderful humorous uplifting escape across numerous days. Thanks @JudyLeighWriter
I loved this book .The 3 main characters are so individual but they work so well together. This is the first book I have read that deals with the dreaded Covid .I have to say it did not make the book depressing it was a small factor and was put to the side just as we all have had to do in real life .Great book loved it
