Effective book giving advice on changing thoughts and behaviours to address stress, anxiety and depression. Uses Acceptance and Commitment Theory, based on mindfulness. Easy to follow. I am pleased with my purchase and would buy again.
I can not write lengthy review because i do not belong to English speaking country. So please take this short review very serious that this is the best self help book i have ever read in my life. I have spent thousands of pounds on self help books and got nothing. This was my last book and finally i got the result of what i was searching. Buy this book and you will never regret. This book has everything to solve your anxiety, fear, phobia or whatever psychological issues you have. Thanks
I just wanted an overview of ACT to be able to incorporate it into my life coaching practice. This is a great little primer and I was pleased to see that I had bee using many of the ideas in my practice already.
I appriciate the exerices in the book, which I can adapt for my clients.
It's not 5 stars purely because the emphisis is on happiness, and what it is or isn't. And while I agree with much of the author states is holding people back or 'trapping them' from happiness, it's a little more complicated than applying ACT to every situation. There are other modalities that will suit peoples treatment more appropriately (NLP, TA ect).
With that proviso, a book that should be a part of anyone's collection who wants to continue to work on their personal (and professional) development.
An excellent book with a different approach to combating low mood and negative thought patterns. Really helpful. The instructions on how to use the book are really clear and straight forward and I shall be recommending it to others I know are struggling.
I can't recommend this book enough. Even if you don't need the therapy it offers, there is much to take from it that is of use in everyday living. I paticularly liked the way in which it is accepted that 'bad' stuff can't be avoided, but it can be dealt with. Whether or not you have read other self-help books, you will not need any other. It is well written, too, in bite-sized chapters that make for easy reading of a very serious piece of work.
I have read many self help books. This one saved my life . This one improved my quality of living. I am forever grateful. I hope anyone out there struggling, finds the right path, healing and support as well. Maybe this book can help you too . Excellent writing. Clear and concise.
I haven't actually finished reading it yet but depending on your reasons for purchasing it, I think it is really useful in understanding some of the destructive negative thoughts that plague some us. It makes you feel that you are not on your own and teaches you that whilst you can't control your mind and thoughts you can face them in a much more positive way. Simple logical and effective.
For anyone who suffers with any form of anxiety or depression I urge you to buy this book. It is very different to the traditional CBT methods as it frames everything in a much more light-hearted way. It got me through a very dark patch and I now use these methods in my daily life. I can’t thank the author enough!
Highly suggested to everyone! Great reading to make the first step in the right direction. This is just a support tho. If you're really in a bad place this is not the solution. Professional therapy is.
