Heartland is a horse ranch that has been in the Bartlett-Fleming family for generations. After the sudden death of their mother, sisters Amy (Amber Marshall) and Lou (Michelle Morgan) find themselves in charge of running the sprawling ranch. Amy has her mother's gift for horse whispering, whereas Lou is an adept businesswoman who quickly finds that Heartland is deeply in debt and the family is on the brink of losing it all.
