Literally ZERO cons, there was so much going on but my god she really did tie up plenty of loose ends from the first book only to throw in some even bigger ones towards the end. AND THE ENDING?!!!! MY GOD MY HEART WAS IN MY BUTT I don’t know how I’m gonna carry on with my life now until the next book I really don’t

For an author as brilliant as SJM it was disappointing her usual character and world building was lost and disjointed amongst prolific explicit sexual scenes and it wasn’t long before I regretted purchasing this book and taking the time to read it. The whole novel would have been significantly shorter and more engaging without all these scenes, to the point I began to wonder if the plot was written around these encounters or visa-versa. Sexy? I don’t think so. It’s a shame because it really detracted from the work and cheapened it to the feel of a generic sex and sexuality agenda-based novel/porno/trying-to-be-adult statement instead of what could have likely been an interesting read. If only some effort been made to get the point of intimacy and fun across in a creative and engaging (non-explicit) way like SJM has the ability to do.

I can't even write a review right now, like I am that shook. I'm literally shaking, covered in goosebumps and CRYING! I am so excited for Crescent City 3! Ok, let's go back to the start though. I really enjoyed the flow of this sequel, it was so different to the first! House of Earth and Blood was huge but it is literally just a build up to THIS. I loved getting inside the heads of a few previously minor characters, their step up to mains caused an interesting mix to the pot, that will no doubt aid in continuing to stir up this insane plot. The revelations revealed in HoSaB were so intense, I don't even want to read another book until CC3 is here 😅 Overall, Maas is no longer the queen of plot twists but the GODDESS!

Ok - so I went into this having the first book as one of my favourite books. I left this book and was like ok it’s cool, different from book 1, but still great. But holy duck on a spit! This book!!! This damn book!!! It’s 2am and I can’t sleep!!!! I’m thinking about it.
That ending! There are so many ways this can go!!! I’m so excited!!!!!

I will just add that there were so many points of views that at times it felt rushed and that important things were missed. Like tharion. Love him but a lot of his parts I felt were unnecessary and we could have used those for Bryce.
That’s probably the only thing that could pull this book down was too many povs - and I love multiple povs.
BRYCE!!! I absolutely love her and yea, I’m into Hunt. I wish he was real because I may be in love with a book character (which isn’t sad at all). BRYCE though… I think I love her more than Bryce! Like I want to be her friend and just hang out with her. I love her.

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) was undoubtedly my favourite read of 2020, and it’s sequel House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City #2) not only met my high expectations but ended up completely blowing them out the water.
We return to Crescent City a few months after the events of the first book to find Bryce and Hunt still living together, having decided to wait for the upcoming solstice to fully solidify their romantic entanglement. But Bryce and Hunt’s dream of a long, happy and normal life together gets derailed when the war between the human rebels and the god-like Asteri ends up at their doorstep.
Beloved characters from the first book return with a whole host of new ones that both enrich the story and further the plot.
The ending will leave you reeling - longing for more - and long terms fans of Sarah’s work will be both shocked and surprisingly rewarded with the books jaw dropping cliffhanger of an ending.
House of Sky and Breath (Crescent City #2) is a must read of 2022 and every subsequent year thereafter.

I’ve been hooked on the author for a fair while now and I’ve not be disappointed once. This book is second in the series and takes off straight away, if you don’t remember characters easily it’s best to do a refresher on book one. From the first page I was pulled in. I love the world building that Maas is capable of. Bryce is a strong woman with a strong personality and it works so well with her counterparts. I don’t want to give anything away. But this a definitely must read after the first.

What can I say? Sarah J Maas proves yet again why she’s the undisputed Queen of this genre.

I have read and loved all of her books. Her writing & imagination blow me away. The worlds she creates and the characters who inhabit them are really something very special.

I thoroughly enjoyed, the reading feast that was Book 1 in the Crescent City series.
So it was with a thrill of delight when I was finally able to read House of Sky and Breath!

It’s an understatement to say that I loved it.
It’s soooo good!! The characters are so real they may as well be walking all over the pages, and the plot! The plot is intensely wonderful, it takes a truly brilliant mind, with great vision to conjure a plot this amazing into being. Not to mention the plot twists! That ending!!
Sarah J Maas you blow my tiny mind in the most marvellous way.

The only down side to all of this next level 5 star fabulousness is the giant SJM sized hole left when the book ends.

Thankyou so very much for giving us this extraordinary book to read; I am at the edge of my seat, looking forward to discovering what happens in Book 3!

This one was really tough to get through because the plot is really not interesting. It's told from too many characters perspectives to bulk it up and those characters aren't particularly exciting. Waay too drawn out. Not much chemistry between the characters either which might just be because she doesn't stay on one characters story long enough for you to be particularly committed to what happens to them. Characters all keeping secrets from each other makes it tough to get into. Annoyed because I have to read the next book because of the last chapter. Bit cheeky to use your previous good book series to make people read your new boring one. I genuinely don't know how this is getting so many positive reviews. I absolutely loved her previous A Court Of Thorns and Roses series. This one just really doesn't live up to the same standards.

I honestly didn’t think CC2 could surpass CC1. And while parts are seemingly off at a tangent, Maas always makes the tangents count.

Bryce is a formidable friend that I’d definitely love to have. I love that she screws up as much as hitting the mark. Some of the sex scenes have a delightful clumsiness to them, so it’s not all perfect romance and has a more real edge (despite it being utterly fictitious).

I have had to put this book down on occasion, not because it wasn’t captivating, more because I’ve had to process some of the twists or mentally preparing for the event that’s sure to tug at my emotions.

The climax of the book is heart wrenching and elating.

I am unbelievably excited for the next book! Congratulations Sarah J. Maas, this book is a triumph.

A sensational story in the world of dark fantasy, that is magical and haunting, with an exhilarating plot, powerful world building, a level of suspense that inspires a hungry turn of pages and a brilliant array of characters that I believe are her best cast yet. Ingenious.

Sofie, is about to die with one vital piece of “information hidden in her head, information that could very well be the final piece of this war against the Asteri. The blow that could end it all” and so Bryce, Hunt and Ruhn try to unearth the corruption and the devastating truth that cost Danika her life in the last book and now Sofie in this story. This is not a spoiler as it happens in the first chapter but sets up a storyline that will continue well into the book.

As worlds collide and the Houses of Crescent City seek to take control, the treachery and danger takes us to the city ships of the queen’s court, the seven levels of hell and the orrery planet solar system as reluctant alliances are forged to prevent the Asteri taking control. However, with an order from the Asteri to lie low or endure a penalty of death, the crew must carve out a strategy where the stakes are high, the game is at a different level, and the people only too willing to betray the daughter of the King of the Autumn Court too numerous. Ignoring the request from her father to strengthen the alliance with the House of Avallen, by marrying Cormac, her cousin, Bryce is left isolated except for her lover and ‘mate’ Hunt and brother Ruhn.

Tormenting, imaginative, spellbinding, a fabulous case of brinkmanship, and totally immersive. A book I read over two days and up to ‘stupid o’clock’ in the morning to finish, because I hankered to know how it would all end, and what an ending it was - but no spoilers here!!!! And my advice is please do not read reviews that contain spoilers because the element of surprise will leave you speechless.

I am speechless. This book is an incredible second addition to this series and full of surprises and twists I wasn’t expecting. I feel like I know all the characters intimately in the way that Sarah does better than anyone else. The way she builds relationships and insights into characters is like nobody else. This is going to be a truly epic series. Sexy as hell, fast paced and just basically incredible. I have included a photo next to Kingdom of Ash, could this series actually surpass the last two… I would not have believed it possible but I think it might. Best writer in the known universe. The wait for the next instalment will kill me, no doubt I will have to reread this at least twice and, well, what the hell, why not reread the TOG and ACOTAR again while I am at it. Sarah J Maas, living legend, does it again!
Ps I bought this in hard copy and kindle. No regrets - is it just me?

What can I say that hasn’t already been said, but if you have read the first book you are in for an unbelievable ride, if you haven’t read The House of Earth & Blood and love all things fantasy with strong female leads and totally yummy males this series is a must. But darlings, darlings for those who want some idea of what you are in for strap yourself in you are in for an exhilarating unbelievably bumpy ride. There are so many twists and turns, this nothing like Earth & Blood, you barely catch your breath when you hurtle off in a totally different direction. There is nothing boring about this book and there is 801 pages that should come with chains to hold it down. There is of course the usual suspects, some new and welcome ones, ones we have only heard about but never met some of them are really really unwelcome and some are surprising. Never in a million years will you guess the ending, some things I guessed some things I think I have guessed but I’ll bet my last haribo that SJM will laugh in our faces with the twists that she is planning for her next book, I suspect manic laughing from her as she came up with the twists in this book. This series is a marvel the best series yet and I loved the others.
